Sirgil III is the planet. The system is Sirgil. Manos is not next to Sirgil, it's about 4 jumps north. Sorry, I can't remember this mission. Are you looking for a ship? Are you playing a plug?

Yes Cygnus Alliance is a plugin. The mission is to sweep the Manos system and neighbours of Manos. It is the start of the Alien mission for this EV plugin. Sweep and return to Sirgil III, which I have done, no reponse at all back on Sirgil III. This is similar to the EV Allien sweep around the Nexus system. Maybe its a bug, no info available on any web-board that I can find.
To me that is the most frustrating part of the game. Worse than typo's. Are you actually supposed to find the alien, or just scout out "odd happenings"?
I am playing a plug for EVO right now, and the same thing happened to me. I was sent on a mission - no time limit. But when I came back, nothing. I tried the mission five times! So I opened it up with ResEdit, and found out there wasn't enough time given for the mission. When I added a few more days to the mission, I could go on. I never would have known there was a time limit. I never got the "Mission failed, time limit exceeded".
If it's a fairly new plug, and you are still having problems, maybe you could contact the dev.
Yes, this part of the mission is to scout out odd happenings and report back to Sirgil III. I must say your idea of opening up the program sounds interesting. I have know idea how to go about opening this program, perhaps if you have the time you could give me a couple of tips. What is typo's?
Thanking you in advance

Martinfl: If you want to look inside the data files to see your exact objective, I suggest you download David Arthur's (url="http://"http://davidarthur.evula.net/mc.php")MissionComputer(/url). Install that, click "load an existing plug-in," browse to the Cygnus Alliance plug-in, and open it. Then look for the "misn" resource on the left pane, and select it. From there, browse the list of missions until you see the title of the one you're stuck on. Double click it. The next few panels should be fairly self explanatory (if it references a "syst" ID or resource, then go to "syst" on the left pane (where "misn" was), and look up the ID number you saw before).

Typo is short or slang for typographical error.
I have never used "Mission Computer" but I have heard only good things about it. If you haven't already, download the Annotated Version of the EVO Bible. It is quite comprehensive (although I am still a little confused on "flags").
1. Make a backup copy of your "Cygnus Aliance plug files" in a separate folder. That way if you mess things up, you always have an intact original.
2. Launch Resedit, opening your data file for the plug. This is located in the EV Plugin Folder. Could either say Cygnus Aliance Data or just Cygnus Aliance. You don't need to open the sounds files, or splash screens, etc.
3. Double click on "misns". That is the list of your plug missions. Find the name of the mission you are on and double click on it. Open the window vertically all the way to the bottom of the screen.
This is where I have the EVOBible open to the missions section, on the right side of my screen, the mission on the left. The EVOBible will give you a line item description of each box: start, drop off, time limit, etc. It will even show you the system number the target ship is in.
If you want to know the name of the system, open "syst", and find the corresponding number from the mission.
If you find anything wrong, you can change it, WITHIN SPECs or you will mess things big time. Then just close the windows and save. Note: Sometimes when I save a file I get a notice saying "Xpos is larger than Ypos, do you want to save?". I just ignore and click on Save. Also, you will need to abort the mission and accept it again for the changes to activate.
Clear as mud? Hope this works. Just remember to back up your pilot file and orig plug files.
Excellent help, guy' & girls. I've been out of town on business this past few days. Returning I downloaded the "Grinchians" plugin, played for a day or so, most enjoyable plugin.
Now you have set me a task, a little bored with just playing the game with your advise I will endevour to unravel the nuts & bolts of this game giving me a greater understanding of how it works
Thanks again
Mission Computer: As suggested I downloaded and followed instructions, not so difficult. The difficult part is the reasoning of the time allowed for a mission. In that box is the digit "-1". Could you, if it pleases you explain this setting.

That means there is no time limit for the mission. See (url="http://"http://www.evula.com/ev_bible/part2-misn.html")here(/url) for more information on the field settings.
