Are there any currently? What exactly does a plugin add... New items, new monsters, new quests? Are they free to registered users? Are these unanswerable questions right now? Also, what is the easiest way to kill Sea Giants without consuming truckloads of Filters of Healing?

Plug-ins can add all the things you mentioned. There free, yet can only be used by registered users. There in the plug-ins section to the ASW PoG page. There is only one sample plug right now because Coldstone: the game making engine used to make PoG also is used to make the plugs, is not out right now. But once Coldstone is out, you can expect to see several plugs to be made.
And as for the sea giants...dont want to use Filters? then buy a whole lot of Dexterity elixers, I have over 100 Dex and it takes forever for a giant to finaly hit me. But after you have alot of Dex. Spend your cash on strength elixers.
