How many total conversions and/or semi total conversions (like Relm of prey) are there for Escape velocity.
I know about quantimire, relm of prey, and of course Frozen heart, but what others are there? how good are they?
------------------ Cmon people, the (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number;=20&SUBMIT;=Go")Chronicles(/url) are worth looking at.
There's a bunch in the Empire series (E1,E2,E3, etc...of which Realm of Prey is a member) Galactic scourge is odd....but interesting. Pale is really good. New Horizons is one of my favorites, due to the sheer breadth of nifty ships, technology, and graphics. Elite Frontiers is quite "retro" (a very different take on the EV game)
An easy start would be to go to the EV add-ons page, and sort by size. Quite a few are on that first page.

When I looked at that link I saw something interesting. the two contrasting mantas to be exact. Is it true that the original EV graphics were like that?

Yes.
From EV 1.0.0

Yeah on my old mac I have version 1.0.2 and on my pc im using the classic port. Until recently I've always played with the older version until I used the port. In my opinion I liked the graghics for the older version better.
------------------ ...
I agree. The first version graphics were just better looking.

I'm getting a not found error on that second pic.
I cannot bellieve that the original EV graphics were those pieces of crap. I for one am glad they improved them. I can see how their simplicity would appeal to some though.
Most of the v1.0.0 - 1.0.3 graphics don't appeal to me now, but they certainly did back when I started playing the game in '96. They were basic models without any real texturing (obviously), but they set the stage for some great modifications in 1.0.4+.

makes sense. Its a lot easier to make a model and use colors instead of textures. looks like junk though. Did Ambrosia or sombody from ambrosia ever release the models for EV?

No, they were never released. I've personally asked Matt for access to the original EV models for the purpose of making an EV Cold Fusion, but unfortunately they don't even exist anymore - they were lost to some freak accident.

actually I think that the old, untextured graphics still exist. the guys at the catacomb claim to have them. He said he has the models from EV and can make animations with them.

Heh! I actually put this link on this purpose too, with regards to the other topic here, especially the post there saying all ships are basically tubes... which I suppose could be seen even more back then, I don't know, I never played EV before the 1.0.5, I discovered this fact when I came across this issue of the AT.
I suppose the fact someone "has" the models for the EV ships is that they are just simple enough to be reproduced faithfully, they do not have to be the actual originals.

I think I found EV at the 1.0.5 mark. I always thought the pictures EVula has on the survivel guide were his own reproductions, untill now. The models at the catacomb are also the older versions.
I've decide to try and reproduce the models as best I can. considering they can be made almost exclusivly with lathed objects, most of them won't be hard.
