Hey, mr. Gould, my pleasure. EF probably deserves every praise it gets. Nice to see you back.
Anyway, If you're reading this, I'm very curious: what happened to the "prequel" you announced after EF? Solar Scenarios if I recall correctly, right? Is there anything left to salvage from it? for example something worth putting in the Add-Ons section here... Personally, I'd love to get my hands on it, but maybe that's just me
Cheers!

Having played through the standard EV, it became very clear that the game had big similarities with Elite and Frontier Elite. As these were favourites of mine the next step seem natural.
It took me five months to put EF together and was an interesting project. I even used an Amiga to do the rendering and had Frontier Elite up as a reference when building EF.
I played through it again recently and was still pretty pleased with it.

------------------ Here's something funny: System 7.5.2
Well I found the EV Solar Scenarios files the other week and had a root around in ResEdit.
There is a full map on the Solar System that is more or less accurate (Systems are based on each planet or moon, with extra orbiters, etc.). The 'plot device' additions are jump gate systems that you open with mission bits to allow expansion during play. Each moon is connected to it's planet or a larger moon in the system by a jump link, the planets are interconnected via a jump gate system. e.g. Moon to Mars goes via Earth and a jump gate.
There are governments, military bases and commercial concerns. There are also some new ships (all variants on EF, with retro Elite gfx).
The missions path is only a little done. You can basically trade a bit and do some collections and deliveries and after a while you can get access beyond the Inner Systems (Earth, Venus, Mercury). Beyond that it stops.
The govs and map are set-up so the Jovian territory is at war with (I think I remember) Saturn and the outer Worlds. The plan was for a similar run of increasingly difficult missions as your allegiance to one or the other increases. I can't remeber if Thargoids were due to appear and threaten Earth or not, but that might come in later.
I stopped development because at the time I got interested in something else. I forget what, but maybe a saucy girl!!? I nearly started work on it again recently (despite having a saucy girl!), but I'm just too busy I think.
I had thought about offering it up for development, but I feared it would get trashed, not completed or worse.
