Hmmm... I have a good idea.
1)Dominate a few planets (More than 3,000 a day is nice) 2)Find a plug that makes hyperspace take 2 (or more) years. 3)Jump to another system. 4)Laugh all the way to the bank.
Jesus christ! 3 months, obviously that was an exageration, but still!
Heres my method of making money(normal EV):
Step1 :Do a few rush delivery missions until you have 500000 credits
Step2:Purchase a clipper and arm it with max amount of proton guns, max amount of javelin pods and 200 javelins
Step3:Go to Tiber land at Port Oread and start pirating Argosys(Tiber does NOT start to hate you and it has most comodities)
Step4:This takes a lot less time than you think and in say1-3 hours you have a brand spanking new corvette and you go and kick some confed arse!
In EVGE you just go to Orion but an Orion bulk freighter and trade comodities between spob 2 and spob 4 you get stinking rich FAST!
------------------
Or just capture every system except Sol and Ruby then you're making 120,000 a day. By the time you've captured them all you might even be as rich as my pilot (324 million, no cheats whatsoever, whole galaxy captured).

Yeah But the rpoblem with Gus' and gavins is that you have to be in a reasonable ship to make the money and if your already in a decent ship then what use do you have for money
True, Marjock...
Well, uh, money for that Rebel Cruiser?
Or Deatharray?
I dunno, but it's nice to have a lot of money.

For buying every outfit in the game without fear of costs? Like Space Bombs? Or six Kestrel escorts for a loong time?

My guess is that you actually sat there like an idiotic zombie and repeated this process until your eyes were seeing Lightnings outside your window???? It's ok I used to be that way with Super Mario 64

As originally posted by CaptAceharddrive As far as I know, you can't add a disabled Lightning to your bay unless you also disable another Kestrel and it's Lightnings, tow either the Kestrel to the Lightnings or vice-versa (so the Lightnings can go back into their home-bay), then board the Kestrel and steal the Lightnings (listed as ammo). Also, you can't have any ships in your own bay when you do grab the Lightnings, then you can recall your Lightnings to their bay. Of course, I just launch my Lightnings, capture the other Kestrel's Lightnings, then recall mine. This works with any ship with the appropriate bay (Rapier bay...). I just wish we could grab already disabled fighters to add to our "cache." At one time, I had eight Rapiers in a Rapier bay (got rid of the Lightnings and their bay) on my Kestrel. One BIG problem is when you've disabled more than one Kestrel and more than one fighter! You've got to match up the right fighter with its appropriate mothership.
That's not necessarily true. I used to capture "non-domesticated" Lightnings to add to my own bay all the time. As for the Rapier bay---never heard of it. Where is it obtained?

Look for a plug-in for the Rapior Bay. While you were down at the lower portion of the board, did you see my money topic?

Another way to earn good cash early on is the Virgo - Sirgil run with Luxury goods. One jump so fairly quick and if you hire some of those light freighters then you can make truly massive runs (around 1000 tons). Take a quick ship so you can zip in and out around the occasional pirate (I find the original shuttlecraft adequate) and in no time you will have earned enough to buy something worthwhile (Say a Corvette which can take down a Kestrel no questions asked, hooray I got me one!!)

Grave digging is bad! And the search feature is gone. How did you do that?
You could set it to "show all topics" and then bump it...

Yeah.

Which game are you using, Escape Velocity or Escape Velocity Nova? You seem to be confused over which one you are actually running. And I would assume you would buy it, unless you need a mission to make it appear.
------------------ Downloading EV: Nova for Windows and great plugins from Internet: Free, excluding Internet access costs. Registering EV: Nova for Windows: $30. Finally being able to play EV on your Windows computer: Priceless. There are some things that Windows users couldn't buy. For those, there are Window's ports.

Hah, almost every time I come here, this topic is still on top...
In EV Classic the only way to get a Lightning bay is to get a Kestrel, which has it pre-installed. OR you might be able to by one at Earth.
In EV:Nova a Lightning bay does not exist.

There is nothing but replacement Lightnings for the Kestrels bay. Pale has missions for unlocking the bay though.

My Fav way of making money is an opal run... I like going from Gem to Greenwich buying selling Opals with a few Levi's as escorts. (capture those they are to expensive to rent) My favorite way of doing it is after rejecting the story lines that will then make the feds very angry at you... its an amusing fight thte whole way.

That is a good way probably (havent heard of it earlier), but that is for Nova. What is your favorite way of making money in EV?
