... Y'know, that is if I get enough players ;).
I guess this is where I need to explain exactly what I'm talking about. Well, here it is: I'm planning on starting a webstory based on the Great War between Humans and Aliens alluded to in the EV mission strings and docs.
I hope to capture some of the more positive aspects of the Battle For Sol series and the more successful EV:O Webstories, while avoiding the mires and conflicts that have plagued stories on the EV Board in the past. I'll be using the lessons I've learned from playing and moderating EV and EV:O stories to make sure everyone has as much fun as possible.
The setting will be in the standard EV universe with a few slight changes. It will naturally take place before the formation of the Confederation, or the development of many of the technologies and weapons present in the Escape Velocity scenario. Also, many of the systems that are heavily populated or colonized in EV will be either fledgling colonies or completely undiscovered.
As far as major governments go I'm not making any concrete decisions about their makeup at the moment, but I hope to have basically 2-3 Alien players each controlling a fleet, and as many Human factions as we have players to control them.
So, what do you guys think?

I'd like to register my interest (officially here) in this webstory. I'd like to write as one of the Alien fleet commanders, and I plan to focus mostly on character/culture development when I'm not dealing with battles. Hey, I might even throw it in during battles.
Regards, Solel

A alien webstory? Ubercool since it so original nobody has done it before! Altough I will not write in it (considering the amount of skill and time needed), I will be sure to read it every day. If it will be succesful, it will be as good as Reality, which was the best webstory ever made after When the Voinians Came...
------------------ I am eager to try to ansver mission questions
:chuckles: SOme writers of the Reality Series approached MacDevil about making a plug based on the Reality Webstory. That is how good it is. I will prefer to stay strictly in EV/O Web Stories.

I'm in as anything I'd be useful as. I'm sort of bummed on time but I'll get my participation in How has everyone been anyway? Haven't been around in a while.

This isn't meant to be a webstory for only veteran writers General, there will be oppourtunities for novice writers in abundance. Aslo I thikn you might have gotten the wrong impression about the story, it's not going to be all about the Aliens. In fact I'm hoping that we will have at least twice as many Human players than we do Alien ones.
Just to give you guys an idea of the number of Human players I'm looking for in this webstory I've composed a list of the habited human systems/worlds:
Sol System --Earth --Luna --Mars
Centauri System --Landfall
Capella System --Capella
Rigel System --New Britain
Eridani System --Tabletop
Tau Ceti System --New Columbia --Merlin
Antares System --New Providence
Procyon System --Plateau
Regulus System --New France
Pollux System --New Japan
Pelagon System --Opal
Jadzia System --New Bavaria
Sirgil System --Sirgil III
Topaz System --Emerald
Virgo System --Virgo
Nemesis System --Darkstar
Levo System --Levo
Matar System --Hodgson's World
Yemuro System --New Istanbul
As you can see there are a ton of systems from EV that are left off this list, even so that dosn't mean that if you had your heart set on some particular system that I won't let you have it, just send me an email or post about it or something. This is just a basic list of the systems that have well established colonies at the begining of the story, the ones further out on the frontier can go either way.

Just to, uh, get the ball rolling, can I get dibs on starting in Capella or Centaui?
Can I, uh, have Sol...?

Sure, go for it... also, you don't necessarily have to have to limit yourself to one planet if you don't want too. I was thinking that this story would start out with human space fractured into small governments spaning two or three systems, with the Solarian government maybe having around five. It's fine if you want to be one indepdendant system if you want though.

 I thought it would reguire as good skills as Reality. They had writing skills I could never match, a complex economic system I never figured out, and mile-long posts that sometimes were as long as those of htyangs ( ;)). But only the fact that Aliens will be included is great. I havent seen a single story yet where Aliens play part.

Oh! They make a plug-in about the series? Who were they? And is it going to be based on Chapter 1 or 2? Dont you like Nova webstories?
Don't forget to down-grade the ships and weapons. Back then, the Confederation had Mantas.
------------------ Destroyer E is the name of my ship and the name has a good meaning.

Hell, back then, there was no Confederation!
General, I don't really like Nova webstories, because Reality was the only one in the past year for EVN Webstories, however I might start one during the summer.

BFS II and III both had Aliens in them, but as far as I know there hasn't been a story about the Great War before this one.

Don't worry, as I said earlier, the tech will be significantly more primitive than that of the original EV scenario.
Hmmm... I'll take Nemesis.
------------------ Those who would ignore reality are doomed by it. -------------- Millennium has arrived. See it at the (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number;=20&SUBMIT;=Go")EV Chronicles(/url)

Only good grammar needed. OK, that I have. Prolly I could join if you dont need to be a super-writer. Even better! I could probably even understand it. Do they need to be long still? Like 2 paragraphs? I didnt know BFS II and III were in webstory-format too, I only read them in Chronicles. Thats what I meant... no stories about the Great War before this one.

I don't know about long, but the posts do need to have a point. You may not have time to write a long character driven post on a certain issue, but you can at least give a basic explanation about it from one character's point of view.
