It could work, but upgrading an Argosy to be as good as a Rapior it could cost 1.00M credits.

The Rapier sucks. You can't take out a normal Confed Cruiser with a Rapier with torpedos, despite what people may say. I know I've tried without missing. Anyway, if you're good you can beat most ships with an Argosy and they have more sheilds.

Yes, if youre skilled enough to be to rung run rings around it. With speed upgrades, youre almost as fast as a Defender and almost as manouverable. It has 217 accel stock, and 150 comes from Thrust Enchancetment. That means it has 367 accel, whereas the Defender has 375. With RCS Upgrade it get 150 degrees/sec turning to the Defender 180. Not bad, eh? As fast as the fastest fighter in the game, but not nearly as sucky. Quite qood, in fact. And guess what? The Argosy has exactly the same shields, 35. Only more armor, 40 to 15. Slap Tritanium on it and you get 65 armor, which is more than the Kestrel. And Argosy is a freighter convertable to a warship for expensive price, several million. It can be good, but if you would rather have a heavy fighter that comes already with good armament, the Rapier is better.

Sorry, it's actually a speed issue. No ship will fire torps at a fast enough ship. The AI realizes that it's a waste, i guess.

Upgrade a Rebel Destroyer (speed upgrades) and attack a Confederate warship. It shouldn't fire torps.

Sorry to yourself. I already said that a Rapier can run circles around it, so it fires Lasers against the Cruiser, and runs away to regenerate shields before taking too much damage. Its slow and challenging yes, but it is possible. With all speed upgrades, running rings becomes easy! Macavenger has beaten the Alien Cruiser in a Scoutship. Its all about skill.

Anyway, I would almost take the argosy for the cargo room. It makes it easier to make credits. Just me. But for Kombat, the Rapier.

Exactly. Did he says that he has some serious mad skillz? That I didnt know. Ofcourse you want the Argosy if you trade. It has third most cargo space in the game (the second being the slow and weak Light Freighter, and unbuyable Bulk Freighter). I am just saying that for combat, Rapier is better.

The Rapier is a fighter, designed specificaly for combat, so naturaly it's gonna run circles around comparably priced ships in that area. The Argosy can be more of an all around ship. It has decent defensive capabilities, but missles/torps make it shine in combat.
