Has anyone else had problems on the Mafia's "Strongarm Tactics" mission of "Empire of Crime"? I've played through the entire Mafia string several times and get "stuck" on this mission. I get the mission and complete it, yet, when I land back on Evildrome, I don't get the completion text! For some reason, the completion misbit doesn't get set, even though the mission is complete (I've checked). So, to continue the string, I have to go into the plug with ResEdit and set the next mission availbitset to -1. I hate to do that, but it happens every time I play. I feel that the Mafia string is the best of all, but getting stuck like this is a real pain. Can anyone offer any help?

Is that a plug-in? I never heard of that mission.
------------------ Destroyer E is the name of my ship and the name has a good meaning.
It's in the Mafia string in the "Empire of Crime" plugin.

I'm playing the string through again. Every time I jump in and destroy two of the "hostile" freighters, the last one jumps out. I jump out and back in again to destroy the last one. That usually works...except for this time I didn't get the completion text... So I took a look at the mission via ResEdit and found that the freighters "hyper-in after a delay." I reset that to read "attack player." No problem from then on out. All three hostile freighters destroyed in the system with none jumping out, and I got the completion text! Before anyone complains that I cheated, remember that Adm. Kirk (in Wrath of Khan) confessed that he "changed the conditions of the test." I just did the same.

Admiral Kirk is Captian James T. Kirk, of the Federation Starship Enterprise, in Star Trek: The Original Series. In the movie "Wrath of Khan," Kirk is an Admiral. He is demoted for his conduct during the movie.

Yeah that seems to be a problem with the original EV engine, you must destroy all ships durring the first encounter. All of Tim's subsequent plugins (HoD and RoP) have the freighters attacking the player in almost every one of these types of missions to combat this problem. So technically you didn't cheat since Tim has done this in his more recent works.

Ah, yes, the old "Kobayashi Maru" sequence. Kirk's the only one who successfully completed it.

Makes one wonder if Kirk (et al) learned his tactics/fighting skills playing EV/O/N... (or whatever version will be available at the time)? I'd be willing to bet the Kobayashi Maru was/will be one of the missions in a future EV/O/N...plugin! MacDevil (and you might want to spell your name macdEVil), I just got an e-mail from Tim (the Great) stating that it's typical of EV engine.

~Ace Why should heve EV in his name? And typical... sounds the engine has a flaw. :frown:
I don't mean they would be playing EV/O/N in their time, but there might just be a version in the future. I meant that as a "shot" at EVula's spelling of his name. BTW: ElGuapo7, I did a search on Google (for Guapo) (went to your site and loved it!!) and found a few interesting "Guapo"'s!
