About ships in EV

hey guys, well... insted of trying to run EV on my windows computer, i decided to pull out my ANCIENT macontosh... so, im a scout, still doing missions.. and, i got kestrel's before, but.. isnt there a way i can get like a condef/rebel cruiser without putting a plug-in for EV, cause, i dont have internet for my macontosh, so, any help would be great.. and, what is the BEST combat ship?? that can upgrade good too, besides kestrel, ok, thx.. cya later 🙂

There are Rebel and Confed missions. You have to defeat the Alien cruiser in either mission string and that government will give you access their technology. I would say that the Rebel Destroyer and Cruiser kick ass when upgraded; Kestrel and Corvette are good civilian ships. Good luck!

The best combat ship? I think I've given my opinion on that one a few times before. If you like nimble, agile ships which will get you here to there and back again quickly (while still holding its own in battle), the Rebel Destroyer is for you. Powerful, one of the fastest in the game, and insanely inexpensive. Another ship comparable in stats the the Rebel Destroyer is the Corvette.
Like Luke mentioned, you need to complete a string of (challenging) missions before you can get either the Confederate ships or the Rebel ships. In my opinion the Corvette is the best speed civillian fighter.

If you're going to go for one big, fatass , (that's a keyword there) warship you want the Confed Cruiser. Again, you can only get it if you do the Confed missions. My personal favorite is the Rebel Cruiser, though. Not quite as powerful as the Confed Cruiser, but faster and still really powerful. The closest civillian equivalent to these two would be the almighty Kestrel. (man, I loved that thing. I thought I was so great before getting stripped by that stuip Rebel Destroyer) Finally, when starting out, before going for the Corvette, it would be a good idea to get a Rapier. It kicks.

If you need mission help on how to get the Confed and Rebel... missions, just ask. But know, my young padawan, that you can only do one string per pilot. This means you will have to choose between the Confederate ships and the Rebel ships. (and, obivously, who you want to be allied with) Yes, there's a method for getting both strings and doing them at the same time, but I'm getting sick of typing this. G'night folks! 😉

well, hmm, how would i get the rebel ship? complete all the missions?i dont know man.. confeds, or rebels, Lol... perhaps i should try to find one of my old great pilots... i used to have a kestrel, and i'd hang out in spice, and kill people and steal there goodies and money... so, i guess ill stick with that and do all the rebel missions 🙂 woohoo! lol, ok thanks... ill post a new topic saying something like "Help on missions" if i need help, but yah, thanks for offering the help :), now, if u excuse me, i think i have some work to accomplish in EV, mwhahahhahh! k, thx, cya

IMO the best ship progression with new pilots is Shuttle, Scoutship, Corvette. Once you've beaten the Alien Cruiser, go for the Rebel Destroyer. THEN ... if you want to go "rogue" and do pirating, you can pretty much take anything (except for MB's Kestrel).

Of course a quick way to pile up credits is to pirate the pirates. But wait until you have a 'Vette to do that.

Oh yes. Be sure to upgrade wisely and ... have a blast!

Dont put so many question marks. It looks amauteurish. One or two will do. Yes, there is Aliens in EV, just briefly. After you have done the other mission for Confeds or Rebels, you will first observe a Alien Fighter, then destroy a Alien Cruiser which is the last mission. Basilisk II is widely accepted to be the best free Mac emulator, but if you can pay, you can get SoftMac. For help on setting up one, go to Just Tech. It has been asked too much here so this is not the right place to ask.

Yes, aliens. when you get there, there'll be a cruiser that lets go of TWO fighters (Yes two, not three. ;)). Just sit behind it and pummel it with your laser and short range secondaries (Javelins, specifically) Quite easy.

My favorite way to progress is Shuttle-Scoutship-Courier-Corvette-Rebel Destroyer. The Courier sets you back a little bit from getting the Vette, but if you know the good trade routes you can get it faster with the Courier. I guess it all depends on preference, though.

Actually, I beat MB once. Although, I had 6 Fed Cruiser escorts, and I had a souped up RD modified nicely with RES edit. 😛

(My favorite way, though, boring as hell is simply Shuttle --> Corvette --> Kestrel --> Rebel Cruiser. It's hard doing rush deliveries for months, but once you get the 'vette your boredom pays off. 😛 )
