This is from a past post of mine on the subject.
"If your're wondering why you can't seem to take over the Sol system, it might be because each stellar has a defense fleet of 3,176 ships to be exact. At twenty ships a minute, it would take you roughly 2 hours, 38 minutes and 48 seconds to complete one stellar. Of course, unless you have a forklift you probably won't kill that many ships in a minute, and considering how much damage you would take and how much shields and armor you have, you could sit there for a long time. Don't waste your life."
