Mine would have to be:
Confederacy String: Spittal Syndicate Behemoth- Seeing as everything else you get access to in this string (except for the Aceleron Biogenics Advanced Warship) is crap compared to the rival faction or corporation's warships, this is the obvious choice.
Faction String: Faction Heavy Warship- You get so much firepower in this string it's hard to choose what to fly. I like this ship because it's fast and heavily shielded (a rare combination in Tim's plugins) and it's shields recharge relatively quickly.
I sort of wish one of the megacorporations had remained loyal to Earth as it is really irritating how the technology is so much better with the Faction and it's allies. The best Earth allied ship (again with the exception of the AcelBio Advanced Warship and also the Earth Battlecruiser) is a destoryer class platform with 300 or 350 shields. Meanwhile with the Faction you get dreadnoughts and carriers. Since you get access to the Syndicate ships in both strings, they don't really count. And unlike HoD, Tim did not compensate for the overall weakness of Earth allied ships with a better "super ship" near the end (In HoD the Weave gets a better captured Alien ship than the Empire). So, in the end there is really no incentive to fight for Earth besides feeling good about yourself for helping the good guys. What do you guys think?
And a little side tip for anyone in the Confederacy string: You can capture a Faction cruiser without fear of being attacked by Earth ships in their space. Tim did not set an inherent Govt (A field in the ship resource that allows a ship to be always associated with a specific government, leading to a player being attacked by that governments enemies regardless of legal status) on those ships so that people flying those won't be attacked (don't read on if you haven't finished the Faction string) when the switch sides in the Faction string. This is also true with the Atinoda ships, though not the DREC ones for some reason. Of course, you can never get rid of the gunboats or torpedo tubes on the Faction ships, but that isn't so bad since they are pretty good.

Merc. Terminater for power, speed, manuverablity, overall ability. Faction Cruiser for looks.
------------------ Insanity has its advantages
While I like the merc terminator, its slow shield recharge rate is a bit of a turn off for me. It's is the slowest in the game and if you take heavy damage, you will be running forever to let your shields and armor regenerate. The faction heavy warship has one of the fastest recharge rates in the game and almost as much in the way of defences as the guild cruiser. That's why I like it better.
