Best Empire of Crime ship

I think anybody who has played Empire of Crime, by Tim, would agree that it is a great plug-in. I feel the need for a poll.

What ship in Empire of Crime do you think is the best? Any reasons?

My choice is the Sabre. It's fast and maneuverable, and after you sell its bombs and rockets, it has a ton of space. Enough, actually, for both a Sabre bay and a Picketship bay. Even if you buy that, you can still buy shield upgrades and a minigun.

I've never played Empire of Crime, much less the three preceding versions...

That so? I've heard many members say the Empire series is excellent, while others say it isn't so good. Guess I'll have to find out for myself sooner or later...

No, sorry i dont have an on-going TC... I am just helping someone with theirs

As for EoC, I havent got to the larger ships yet, but an Upgraded Argosy is a good middle-of-the-line pirating ship, and Arratos is a good place to pirate

I think the widow maker is the coolest looking and toughest being. I think it the best thing to buy if you whant to have power. My "Black Widow" has all posible upgrads to shielding , engine, and navigations! I can safely say I can go toe to toe with any ship in the game.

Quite definitely the Blockade Runner.
Already its original speed is awesome, and with an engine upgrade added, you can run circles around the fastest of fighters. And with a few shield & armour upgrades and customised weaponry (ample weapons space provided!), it can take and deal out quite some punch, even if up against the most serious of capital ships. Since I've bought one, even Widowmakers don't seem quite as threatening any more.
It's not cheap, but well worth saving up for.

You definitely should try them, they are my favorite plug-ins, period. I even like them better than Frozen Heart, but it is a close second.

I like the PicketShip (upgraded corvette). With all the jazz it kicks ass pretty well.

But for severe ass-whupping the Denebian version of the Accipiter super-destroyer is the best I've had. Saying that, I've just had the terran warships made available. Mmm, tasty 🙂

Know-all note: Accipiter is the latin name for the hawk family. Pretty cool, eh?

"No, I don't think that's..-"
"This coffee is good."

Actually, I thought the Blockade Runner was the best ship, too. The Sabre, however, when equipped with all shielding upgrades, recharges its shields so fast that it is almost impossible to kill. That's why it got my vote.

Martin, how much later after getting the Strike Cruiser do you get the Terran Warships?

COOl, I didnt know that there was another Empire plug after #3. Is 3 worth playing? is it near as good as the first two? I couldnt get into it when I played it. Also, what is the premise behind Empire of Crime?

3 is awesome, at least as much as the first 2. The premise for EoC is that the war between the Empire and the Weave is at a critical point, and almost all resources are being put into the war effort. Law enforcement has become quite lax, and crime is at a record high. You have to choose to fight for one of 2 crime syndicates, or the Mercenaries Guild.

That said, the best ships out of all that I have had so far is the Accipiter-class from Antinoda. Properly upgraded, it has the speed to fly cirlces around capital ships, while at least matching them in firepower. The Blockade Runner comes in a close second... it's very powerful and has ample gun & turret slots, but it is so damn fast!

Widowmaker!
Soup it up with MLM Launchers and there's nothing it can't take out.
Pile on as many speed upgrades as possible and it can outrun MISSILES!
Yay!

I didn't really care for Frozen Heart at all. Some of the missions were good, but almost all the ships were ugly. I have yet to find a plugin that surpasses Galactic Scourge and Pale, but maybe Empire has a shot.

Thanks for all the tips and opinions.

Shade, you Mafia hater! The Strike Cruiser is probably the most heavily-armed ship in the game, with the possible exception of the Heavy Dreadnought. Oh, and the Missile Cruiser is kinda powerful.

Actually, I'm doing the Merc strings at the same time with a highly-upgraded Widowmaker. I managed to fit twelve cannons on it, because the plug doesn't count swivel cannons as counting towards the cannon limit.

The Denebian destroyer, the upgraded atinoda super destroyer, is nastily powerful.
Plenty of speed for such a huge ship, and I just have a fetish for the range and
damage of mass drivers.

Though one could also do the small gunship route and load it with all shield upgrades
and make it invincible, as said above. Only side effect of doing such is that you tend
to get tossed around a bit if your foes use impact weapons.

------------------

True, but it doesn't matter, because you don't get hurt. However, I find that playing like that hurts your fighting ability, because you feel invincible, and can't fight as well when you switch to a bigger ship.

Using the Strike Cruiser for the Mafia missions has convinced me that it is almost invulnerable, even if it is so slow. Four Neutron Turrets, four Ion Turrets, a Minigun, and four Swivel Neutron Cannons. Add about 2000 MLMs to that with eight launchers, and it can take out anything. (In case anyone was wondering, you can get more than 999 MLMs if you steal them from pirates.)

I've always prefered the Picketship. To me, it offers a good deal of options. If anyone laughs, try taking on three Terran dreadnaughts by yourself.
