"James Fond"'s BritEx Retrieval mission?

I'm playing "James Fond" and have been given the BritEx Retrieval mission (that's the one where they don't know where their courier is and there is a time limit, as well as randomly selected places where he could be). How am I supposed to find this ship under those constraints? You'd at least think they'd know where he started from and where his destination was, wouldn't you? Can anyone give me an idea how to find the courier?
