Oreste help please!

I'm trying to begin the confed string (courier needed/go to ruby...) and have been given the mission to take the equipment to Ruby. The only problem is when I get there, Ruby won't let me land without trying to bribe them. I've bribed them twice now and have landed, but my "contact" never shows. I've aborted the mission, went back and retook it...same thing. I tried with a new pilot. This time, when I try to bribe Ruby, I get one of those "You gotta be kidding" kind of messages. What am I to do?

Are you using any plugins? If so, the plug may have conflicting mission bits with the original data.

By the way, did you get your signature from a list of Chinese proverbs, including things like "Man who farts in church sits in own pew," "Crowded elevator smell different to midget," "Virginity like bubble; one prick, all gone," etc.?

Hmmm. I do tend to use several plugins at once, but even so, I checked with EV Plugin Auditor, and I could not find anywhere it might conflict in this way. I'm having the same trouble with "Galactic Scourge." I got the "disable an Astex freighter and grab its ore" mission, but even after I get the samples and land, I get nothing else from my contact. I think there's some kind of conflict between GS and the original EV mission(s) that make them screwy. I've decided to forget the Diphidia II missions. Now, even though it's kinda early in the game, I'm starting to see Confed ships with Hydra modifications, and Rebel ships that attack me even though I haven't done anything against them. I tend to be wary of large groups of ships, and when a large group of weird-looking Rebel ships decide to "go red," I decide it's time to "exit...stage right!" You know, there's a mission in GS where you have to disable and capture Cap'n Hector! How the heck can you do that? I've tried many times without any luck. According to the text (looked it up in Schmelta-V), Hector's gone nuts and started shooting at those who don't pay their shareware fee. However, they don't seem to give you any kind of weapon or device to allow you to disable his ship. I'm glad someone finally read my sig. Yes, I believe it is some kind of Chinese(?) proverb. Not sure exactly where I saw it, but I think it's one from Sun-Tzu's "The Art of War." I'll check on that. Kinda makes sense doesn't it?

Nope. I went to Quotefolio (http://www.musicfoli.../quotes/war.htm) and found that the exact quote is: "War doesn't determine who's right, just who's left." It's not known who came up with it.
