after finishing the auroran mission stirng in nova, i decided to head back to good old classic EV and check out the deal. i was working for the feds, and had just completed the particle beam mission (i love that weapon :D), and i decided to drop by port oread, for some reason. i was apprehended by rebel marines, and as is usual, when such a thing happens, i destroyed the confed frigate. however, i haven't been offered a single rebel mission, apart from the retreive munitions mission, which i picked up before i got the switch sides mission... and diphidia doesnt really count as rebel missions either.
my combat rating is deadly, and i'm role model in all rebel systems. any hints?

I believe that this mission does not allow you access to the Rebel storyline.

Some people have said that you can do the Rebel missions after that, while others say you can't. I do know that there was a plug-in made to allow you to finish the Rebel missions if you "switched sides."
that sucks, so now i have to start my pilot file again?
i thought that matt would've atleast allowed for access to the rebel storyline.
maybe if i could edit the mission bits in res edit.
it's worth a shot, eh?
that doesn't suck. what sucks is that I got the switch sides mission in the middle of the particle beam mission, so when I aborted it the rebel try-and-destroy-me fleet doubled in size and i got wasted. I finally got the beam though.
okay, after looking at the bits in res edit, i found that switch sides sets bit #72, but does not block any bits. i haven't found any missions that require bit 72, and so i guess matt left that open for developers.
anyway
i duplicated my pilot file, and set one of them aside, then with the other, i went to privateers haven, and bought a fake ID, and so was clear in all fed space. then i went around methodically blowing up rebels until my combat rating was 2 levels above ultimate and i have upstanding citizen at most fed planets (and rebel ones, ironically). i was offered the alien mission, and blew up the aliens in my tricked out corvette... and now i have 14.5 million instead of 17 million because i had to buy a fake ID. i want my fed cruiser, damnit!
setting switch sides so that it sets bit 44 (or is it 43?) will give you access to the rebel missions, and maybe clearing bit 43 (44?) at the same time would eliminate fed missions.
Or you could just bribe your way onto Palshife and buy a Rebel Cruiser for less. I find that the weapons and turrets are made up for in speed.

Odd, since plug-ins were not implemented until the later (1.0.2?) versions of EV.
(Edit) That bit may also block the mission from reappearing (/Edit) ------------------ "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams; live the life you've imagined!" not without completeing the alien mission... no doubt the rebel cruiser is a mighty fine ship, but in AI battles i find that the feds win more.
however, this topic is not for fed/rebel debates, and the only reason i chose feds was because they offered me a mission before the rebels did.

1.0.1, I think, though it may have been 1.0.2. However, modification of the data files was allowed form the beginning.

speaking of the beginning... anyone know where i can get a copy of 1.0.0? i really miss some of the original features, like blowing up asteroids, among other things.

Was that intentional, or was it a byproduct of using resources?

A mix of both, I believe.
