What is resedit how do you use it and how do you get it

Res-edit is a popular and reliable file editor used to edit things in escape velocity. Yes, it has to be downloaded, and can be used only for the mac. The program, along with the EV Developers map, a neccesity if you're adding planets, can be found here. And I suggest downloading the begginers Res-edit guide, since it comes with very helpful templates.

Also, you'll need to have the (url="http://"http://www.EVula.com/ev_bible")Bible(/url) with you, too. It has all the game constants in it, and that version was compiled by EVula.

Ah, and could you try to put all your questions in one topic next time? It clutters the board when you don't. 🙂

Agreed - five new topics on this board in two days is a tad excessive.

You should avoid doing that unless you have a back-up copy of the data files, as you could permanently damage your EV data files. You should really try to create plug-ins to change EV rather than directly modifying the critical data files.

I actually have multiple copies of the data file...
