I have another question... I took your advice and bought a corvette and I upgraded but I want to start dominating.
1. What combat rating do i need to have?
2. What planet is pretty easy to dominate but not to easy?

1. You need a deadly combat rating.
2. Most indy planets are relatively easy. Pirate ones can be done, though be prepared to fight rapiers & lighntings. Rebel/Fed ones can be done easily IF you have a missile jammer to evade attacks from patrol ships & mantas. Probably the most interesting places to try to dominate are Lethe & Cydonia; those would be fun to do in a corvette.

Levo is a good one to start dominating, because if you fail they'll still let you land, and they only have defenders.

Whoops, forgot to say that missiles are essential against planets which have missile-carrying fighters (it's hard to dodge 6 missiles coming at you and get close to your quarry, it's far easier to dodge the missiles and just fire your own at opposing ships, you don't even need to be facing the right direction, a fast ship is also essential, I found out that dominating planets in a Kestral was easier than a Confed Cruiser)
Also, try to get some relatively fast escorts that have a large payload of missiles, but still have some primaries. Corvettes or rebel destroyers/cruisers work nicely for this if you can capture them. This is good, because the defense fleet will never attack anyone but you, meaning you can just dance out of sight while your escorts mow down the first 20 or so until they run out of ammo.

A bug, no doubt... I thought they had fixed that one in version 1.0.4.

The easiest planets to dominate are those with defense fleets composed of Defenders. A single Defender can be destroyed by a single torpedo. Stock up on torpedoes and then start dominating independent planets such as Levo which have those wimpy defense fleets. Granted, most of those planets only provide 1,000 credits per day in tribute, but it's an easy way to start off and then work your way up.

The problem with torpedoes is that they usually miss defenders. Fro a planet with defenders, just stock up on the most powerful energy weapons, park your ship on top of the planet and just keep holding A and the space bar and tap R repeatedly.
Planets you might want to consider are any of the ones which have outfitters which only have about 4 items for sale - you know, missiles, laser cannons and auto-refueller. These are low-tech planets, and so have pathetic defense fleets. If you don't know which ones these are, look at what you can buy at Diphidia, and thengo look at other potential planets - they should be about the same. Diphidia only has a defense fleet of defenders, and so is easily taken. But i find it more fun to overrun the systems owned by the government you hate - the feds in my case. Its a good laugh, in the end.

Low-tech planets also have a lower daily tribute, which should be taken into consideration.

I thought that I read somewhere that you could always land at Levo, no matter what your legal status is.

But combined Defender firepower can often take a heavy toll on your shielding. I usually have to use a combination of torpedoes and proton fire to keep them in line. If you fly directly left and right or up and down on your screen, your torpedoes usually won't miss.

It's about time; I didn't crawl through 788 resources to have them sit on your desktop.

I wasn't in it for the money.
