Most people like to use lots of primary weapons on the back of the Cruiser while dodging enemy seeker drones and fusion beams.

Load up on turrets and cannons. If you have a tractor beam then use it: it immobilizes the Cruiser. As for the fighters...primaries and tractor beam.

If you do the Astrodyne Outpost missions (I'm pretty sure...) you'll get it at the end.

all right, call me stupid, but where do I go to do the Astrodyne Outpost missions? I checked practically all the systems and I did not see an Astrodyne Outpost. thanks
There is an Astrodyne Outpost (it's in the far west), but you don't go there to start the missions. The string starts at random on any Rebel world, I think.

Hello, Newbie helper! I'm a newbie and I (surprised?) was hoping you could help me here!
I've been asked to destroy a pirate fleet by a guy named Josef. I've done it several times, I've started the mission over twice, but always when I land on the planet in the system, nothing happens!! I can't destroy the fleet without some help, so I've always got some either rebels just passing by, or by some escorts from the alien mission. Is this what is wrong? Plus, when I die in this mission, when I load my pilot again, every twice time all my escorts and all others are gone from the map, and I just load my pilot again.
And, when we were talking about the alien mission: Like many others, I can't find it. Is it cloaked or something, or is it just a matter of how many galaxies I pass by? Don't tell me where it is...

The alien cruiser is not cloaked. When you are in the same system as it, you will definitely know..
