This is just a little poll to try and wake people up: What's your favorite trade route, and why?

I always used the Zaxted-->Diphida Trade Route. If your low on cash you get some lower priced food on Diphida to sell for a hundred credit profit at Zaxted. Zaxted has cheap equipment which goes for medium prices on Diphida.

Diphida also has cheap industrial goods. You can sell them at Zaxted for high prices, but the real profit is made when the industrial goods go to higher prices. Zaxted will also have lower priced equipment occasionally.

why trade? all you have to do is buy 4 torpedoes in the spica system and you're raking in a huge profit off of those wimpy argosies > 🙂

What if you want to be legal?

Yeah, I'm back.

I liked the Evildrome - nearest port route. Although you can't trade anything on Evildrome, you can gain 100,000 or so credits, a few Kestrel escorts, and holds full of luxury goods. Sell them for 100% profit, minus the amount you spent on guided weapons. Now if only there was some way to sell your escorts off to someone (is there in Nova?)

That's the nice thing about Spica. Apparently, nobody will hold a grudge against you for eating up the merchant shipping lines there. Just be careful not to get involved with the Rebels or Confeds that frequent the system. There's also New Antigua up north where you can pick up some decent outfits for your ship. If you pop a few merchant vessles in their system, they'll stop attacking you and let you land.

Aah, the wonders of apathy. Gotta love it.

Yes in nova you can sell your escorts. But only if you captured them from space, not hiring them from the spaceport bar.

No. You can only release them.

Oh, and my favorite trade route is Darkstar/Capella. Pity I've been playing Nova, and I've forgotten what I traded there....damn brainsucking Nova.....

At least you can play it :frown:

My real mac is a power pc with OS 8.5, but it's so crappy there isn't even enough memory on the thing to UNSTUFF ev nova. Oh well, that's why I have B2 hugs B2

And you can release escorts in EV, just hit option-tab until you target them, then hail them and let them go.

I never did trade routes. Hehe. I always did missions. When I first started the game, I kept doing missions from the mission computers untill I saved up 3 million credits to buy a corvett. That took me a few months.

It's supposed to be a get rich quick route. There is a downside, but I forget what it is...

I was surprised when I fired up Nova and it actually worked! This was on my lowly Performa 6300/100 with only 64MB RAM. I just turned on VM, set it to 96MB, trimmed down my extensions to the bare essentials for games, and restarted.

Of course I can only play it in 256 colors and I had to turn off some effects, but the game actually runs faster than Override ever did.
