Heh - you sure? It's actually pretty simple. For each point of shielding (corvette has 70) 4K is tacked on to the cost. Etc. for all up to the ratio.
While the ratio is a bit harder to understand, a background in statistics will help. (Mind you, since I am only in 7th grade, I have not studied advanced statistics, so my deviation formula/conjecture may be a bit utilitarian). Deviation is something that is different than a standard. The standard is what a regular ship crafter can do. If your ship has a better ratio of goodies than the standard does, your ship is better and hence costs more. It's the opposite if your ship sux0rs. Does that help?
BTW- Thank you for your vote of confidence, but I think Macavenger (studying calculas) woud be better suited to pricing and refining my crude formula.

I don't see the sense in including the ships crew in it's price. The only thing it was used for in the game was determining chance for capture and combat rating.

That feature is useful to pirates, as they have the ability to capture ships. And if one party is subject to it, the others should be too...
UE Admiral, I could be an advisor, also, unless Kyle or Spacey wants to do that. Oh, and if Skyblade comes back, then we both just become average Military schmoes. Oh, and if you give orders, could you run them trough spell check, please? No offense, but I'd hate to misunderstand you and do something wrong, thereby being executed.

The way I understood it capturing would only consist of the Pirates geting one or two Corvettes or Destroyers occasionally. I think involving the crew stats would only complicate things, and the more complicated things are the more likly people are to argue. Lets just leave capturing ships and crews out of the game.
Sure whoever wants to do it :p. But anyways I now understand. its just the way you had writen it. made my limited vision spin. Anyways we should try to get this thing under way soon. we just have to wait for final word from everyong else and then we can plan it. I'm going to start collecting email so a message can go out to everybody involve that it has started. I found with BFSIII that there was 80+ posts in the first day. and since I oly could check the board at night (Before my laptop was fixed) I couldn't keep up and this way also it wouldn't be so hard..

I believe it will start the 26th, or in a week. I doubt it will be excessively swamped with posts, as this forum's activity level has REALLY died down.
Can we also make it a rule not to attack another player on the first few posts of the game? That's what pissed me off in BFSIII, is that without being able to do a single thing, suddenly my fleet is pretty much gone in a battle post that took too much of my command authority imho.
Yes I belive that would be fair. Well I'm going to email SB and see if he could send me the files for the EV webstory site. because it needs to be upfated more often. That happened to me in BFSIII. I hadn't even posted yet. the topic was on the 3 page. and guess what. No more fleet. wasn't very fair if you ask me..

How about this: Until everyone has posted at least once, there can be no attacks?
That sounds good to me, either we wait until evernyone has posted, or we wait until at least someone from each government has posted.

Yeah, or at least no attacks on players although undefended colonies would be allowed (and of course attacking those who have already launched attacks).
Can we set a tenative date for when we are starting?

Well, looks like the advertising war has begun
My rates: 25% of the cost of ships lost by my fleet in addition to the agreed upon fee (varies upon mission requirements). Also, when I determine that it is necessary, I will turn over my fleet to the command of the client. However , if this results in the loss of two-thirds or more of my fleet, the client will be charged 200% of the cost of ships destroyed.
