Is there any really point in karma. Its like warning in aim, no one pays attention to it.. This will probly get locked and lots of mad questions and thingies.. MAY SHARP ROCKS FALL ON YOUR HEAD!

Not to mention that enough karma slaps (-10) and the offender is banned from the boards for their bad behavior.

If there is a FAQ available for the web board you're posting to, read it first. It very well may contain the answer to the question you're about to post, getting you a solution much more quickly than posting to the web boards might (and withou t annoying the web board regulars with common questions). Wait overnight to send emotional responses to messages. If you have really strong feelings about a subject, indicate it via FLAME ON/OFF enclosures. For example: (FLAME ON) This type of argument is not worth the bandwidth it takes to send it . It's illogical and poorly reasoned. The rest of the world agrees with me. (FLAME OFF)
Don't get involved in flame wars. Neither post nor respond to incendiary material.

Opps. Here is the Karma One
Karma is a measure of a person's standing on the web boards; 0 is neutral, negative is bad, positive is good. Everyone starts with neutral (0) Karma. Moderators can warn (lower karma) or praise (raise karma) people based on their posts. If your Karma has been affected by a moderator, you will be eMailed the details of why your Karma was affected, and by whom. If Karma becomes too negative (-10 or worse), that person is banned from the web boards until a moderator raises their Karma.

Yes. It's mostly a way to get annoying people who continually annoy the rules off the boards by karma banning them. Some people will also use positive karma as a way of judging members, even though it really means very little. The number of positive karma points in particular isn't that important, until you get to about 14 - those people are worth paying attention to. But really, positive karma is more of an internal thing.

Personally, I usually glance at a person's post number : Karma point ratio and then read their post, mostly out of curiosity as to whether they live up to their statistics or not. A few members who are nowhere above mediocre in their helpfullness and kindness have very high karma while some who contribute a lot and are general very genial have relatively low karma points. It is not really a good way to judge people, and is pretty much pointless until you start slipping into lower numbers.
Personally, I don't see karma good for anything but making people angry. Some feel they are slapped unjustly, and perhaps they were (ahem :p), while others complain that some are getting way more than they deserve. The solution: Judge people by their content of their posts and not their karma. (And whether they type, "you" or "u" :))

I would never say U. only You.... Anyways I;m sure when a mod sees this it will be locked. I'm very inpressed though that no one has came in here flaming... I gess they read my posts with the rules..*wink *wink
as ares1 sayed do not judge people by there karma or there post count. Only by what they say (I would say and the way they act. but that isn't as apparent) so karma doesn't do much. but it gives you a warning before getting yor IP band.
Yeah those mods probly are surfing or playing evn lucky us..
Here's my opinion of karma:
It's a nice warning system.
I (and most other mods) use karma to warn people of inappropriate behavior. Karma boosting nice people is all well and fine, but it doesn't really mean anything. I don't boost for every little good thing I see, just when someone has been extra helpful (for example, I've boosted Light's karma because he was working his ass off trying to keep something resembling order on the Nova board).
Basically, the only karma ratings that matter are -10 and "blessed". The first means that you're banned, the second means that that person should not be pissed off.
