Hi all. i just completed the alien cruiser mission, and i'm now flying around in a rebel cruiser, and am overlord of most planets.
So... i was wonderin what to do next, and i tried to d/l the evge. unfortunately d/l doesn't work, as after 6 trys, all of them have stopped on 3.04Mb. please can someone either email it to me, or re-upload it, or upload it sumwhere else, or tell me sumwhere else where it is uploaded. ta.

That's strange, as my girlfriend recently downloaded it and had no trouble. It might be related to the slowness of ambrosiasw.com herelately -- try downloading it in Internet Explorer, as I recall it has resumable downloads.

ambrosia didn't seem to slow (although my connection (freeserve) is) and I was using internet explorer anyway, as i'm on a mac emulater, having binned my iMac, and no it doesn't have resumeable downloads. i would use a download manager, but the ftp server doesn't allow it.
Well, wait another several months (or years) so that I can finish beta testing the long-awaited (and I mean LONG) plug-in New Republic with forge, Joe B., and AJ, then maybe work another few hundred dead plug-ins, then I'll get around to making a final version of EVGE (hopefully Stoffe's still around), and I'll upload that.
In the meantime, yeah, it is rather problematic, I have download troubles like that all the time with my stupid dialup with bad phone line quality (maximum connection speed: 26400 bps). The fact that Ambrosia doesn't support resumable downloads doesn't help too much. I'd just keep trying though; EVGE is worth the wait.

I realize I must sound like an idiot, but how do you use a plug-in? I have downloaded and decoded one, but I can't get it to work. HELP!
Put it in the 'EV Plug-Ins' folder in the 'Escape-Velocity' folder.
Anatole.

Yeah, put it in the plug-ins folder...it should be nestled somewhere in that documentation folder, but maybe you skimmed over it or something.
In any case, welcome to the boards, make sure you register a username if you plan on staying, and have fun playing with plug-ins!
I think someone needs to put this on the online FAQ; is there a way to submit something to it?
It's in the plugins folder.

Try starting EV after you put it there.
Seriously, though, if you have too many conflicting plugs, none will work.

I have only one plugin. I've started EV, and it's in the proper folder. I'm not quite that stupid.
Er... what plug is it, exactly?

The EV Tuner may need to be in there, too -- check the documentation.
Anyway, some plugs aren't noticable right away. Look around, see if it working or not. I agree with Joolzman: if we know what plugin it is, we can tell you what you're supposed to be seeing.
It's the first version Star Wars plug. I've got ev Tuner and the plug in the plugins folder. I've looked around and nothing has changed.
