Ok, so here I am, starting a new pilot file for EV (vrs. 1.0.5) and as soon as I see my first Clipper, it appears to be a shuttlecraft. Some other ships appear as Shuttlecraft(s) also. Is there anything I can do?

That's odd, I've never heard of something like that before. I'd redownload the game. Also, did you mess around in RES edit before playing? Some graphic/sprite files might have gotten swapped.

It happens sometimes. The error certainly isn't irreversible, and restarting EV should fix any problems. It happened to me a lot when I played EVGE.

I hear of this constantly. Simply allocate EV more memory, especially when using large plugs, else the spins will get confused.

Good policy, even when there aren't any problems. I used to allocate about half of my available RAM to EV (on my home computer, I've got 800+ megs of RAM, and I don't even play EV on there, so it isn't any issue any more :)).

As stated before, just pump up the memory.
When EV is in the process of loading, the spins are usually the last (and biggest) resources loaded so once the memory is gone, the system will automatically substitute other sprites in the missing one's place.

Strangly, giving EV too much memory can be as bad as not giving it enough. Keep that in mind before you jack it way up.

Yes you should. If you have enough money to own a computer and have the internet, you have $20 to register Escape Velocity. Tinkering with hector is piracy. I wouldn't do that to Ambrosia products if I were you. moki doesn't take kindly to such things.

I'm not trying to be a pirate! I use the computer, it does not neccesarily mean I own it, and: I am just a kid! I have about 5 dollars to use right now! Hector will remain until removed correctly! graduation song plays in backround I increased the memory allocation and it worked fine. (not to mention the computer (that needs updating, OS 8.5; barf) is really starting to run out of memory!)
