Which is better? Confederate Cruiser or Rebel Destroyer?
My opinion: Confederate Cruiser is way better. It can wipe the astro-turf with a Destroyer any Earth Standard Day of the Earth Standard Week. Although, the way the A.I. controlled ships fight doesn't do the Destroyer any good. Attacking head-on over and over is certainly not the way to win a fight in a weaker ship. (Key word- WEAKER) But it is the way in a Confederate Cruiser! Boo yah! Confederates rule! Rebels drool!

Gah! Is anyone ever going to get it? You never put the Rebel Destroyer in a poll! It wins every time, because it is quite simply the best ship in the game. Polls with the RD are boring for this reason.

That's like saying that carriers are worthless for tactics because they are large and slow. A Confed Cruiser will easily slaughter a rebel destroyer in human vs human as well. 4 fighters buzzing the destroyer will lower its shields at least by a quarter and in the meantime the cruiser is firing missiles and torps. No matter who the destroyer goes after it will get nailed. And if the destroyer comes too close to the cruiser it gets nailed by the cruiser's primary weapons. Any secondaries that the destroyer might be able to toss out are negligent as the cruiser can take far more than the destroyer can dish out.

As little as I like to admit it, the Confederation Cruiser can take on any ship in the whole game and come out the victor. It trashes like 3 Rebel Destroyers at the same time even. As much as I like the Rebel Destroyer, the Confed Cruiser can blow it out of the water any day.

Technically, you can't really pull off quick tactics with slow warships, both in space and modern sea warfare. Speed is the critical factor if you hope for success.

Well, you also don't have shields in modern sea warfare. Fire power is everything in this case. Cruiser easily both in AI and in a human vs human match.

Actually, I've seen 2 destroyers beat a cruiser because they're each hitting it at the same time, confusing its AI script. I think both destroyers were still at 75% shields when the cruiser blew.

That's why slow ships have long-range weapons such as torpedos for enemy capital ships, and fighters for enemy fighters.

Wouldn't the cruiser hold a lot more secondaries? I assume that the destroyer would have the sense not to get in range of the cruiser's turrets (which would be playing to the cruiser's strength), and hence the battle would be lost by whoever ran out of secondaries first. I think a lot of you are blinded by your hatred of the confederation.

I don't think you can say that either of these ships is absolutely better than the other. Each outperforms the other in different roles.

Same here. Every now and then, I'll watch two or three Rebel destroyers gain up on a single Confederation cruiser... The big slug can't decide which to go for first, since it's being hit from all sides with some nasty firepower.

Quite so. The Confed Cruiser is more of a flagship fleet leading kind of ship, not good by itself, but powerful with support craft. The destroyer is great by itself.
Rebel Destroyer. In standard build, in human vs. human combat, the destroyer simply takes out the fighters, and dodges the torpedoes. Then, it sits out of the range of the guns and blasts it to smeg with projectile weaponary (missiles, torps, heavy rockets, whatever) and can then finish it off (if necessary) with the turrets from up close. 1 on 1, it's impossible to say that the destroyer would lose if both of the human players (theoretically - we all know EV network edition isn't going to ever happen) are skillfull, as tactics can't really come into play.

Fads curiser waste my Rebel Cusiur + mata + Krstal + 2 lighting, I say its the best ship. My lack of skill is not able to take over planet Earth, I have tried with 3 Rebel cusier, FAILED big time. (Waste about 40 fads ship)
