That is have all of the systems in the EV universe start out neutral (a few of them will be governed by players) and have a huge melee in which the last person, or alliance standing wins.

This is a great idea, but there needs to be someone who has the time and ability to organize all of this into a site, so I'm not sure if its possible. If someone would be willing to organize it, that would be cool.

Well I think Bari's idea has merit for BFS IV, but I dont have the recources to launch it myself.

Well, I think the idea is good, although I certainly won't be able to host such a webstory. I'm already tied up with EV Webstory planning, and projects for (url="http://"http://saberstudios.evula.net")Saber Studios(/url)...

I guess you decided that the link in your sig wasn't enough? Someone's caught EVula's self promotion virus
Thanks for your possitive comments everyone. Unfortunately, I don't think I would be able to create a very advanced webstory like this :frown: . Maybe if I get a rough approximation of how many players would join it, I could see if I could work it out
/me thinks I have just sealed my own fate, gulp

I would suggest that such an interim story be done in the "old style" of BfS I, i.e. with no formal rules, no external resources, entirely free-form, etc. It worked fine for the original, though admittedly there were fewer people involved, and the three main ones were Cap'n Skyblade, David Arthur, and myself. Still, I think that by using standard EV ships and tech, a lot of problems would be eliminated, as there would be much less room for argument and interpretation over the capabilities of various ships. That may have been BfS I's great strength, and is something the EV Webstory will share. Gives me hope for the future.
Of course, it won't really matter once I unleash my evil plan on you all...

Mac: I agree. The original BFS was by far the most successful, but I'm still not sure if we could pull it off with more than six or so players...

The only thing I would add to this would be a starmap such as the one in BFS III. It was helpful to be able to look at the map to know where everybody was (when it was updated that is ). Of course im not the one who would be maitaining all of this, so it's not my choice.

Battle for Sol didn't have fixed fleets the way its two successors did, so it wouldn't be possible to know 'where everybody was'. For example, I personally wasn't 'anywhere' in the EV universe for most of the story - as the only Confederation player, I basically wrote for its entire military and political structure. I did, however, maintain a political map for Battle for Sol, which was the closest to BFS II/III's map that could be useful.
