Matthew Dailey of (url="http://"http://www.grand-novice.com/")Grand Novice Graphics(/url) did indeed create the 'Voratee' name, and all the others who use it took it from him. It's certainly the best name I've seen anyone come up with for the Escape Velocity aliens, although I remember the earlier 'Foundation' plug-in called them 'Vandons'.
