Well, since you're asking here...
(Didn't reply before because my fleet is on Double-Red Alert, which doesn't allow Priority One Messages to get through to the commander.)

The gate can't really be shut down, because the side a ship goes through is much more important than where it comes out; the gate basically flings them to the new location. So you could shut down your end, but it wouldn't help much.

Don't see why it can't be used as a desk.

a) I don't know that the Jumpgate has special sensors, but your ships scanners should pick up almost everything, so why is that needed?
🆒 I don't really think so, but I suppose you could try to invent something...

As for Jimbob's fleet, my hard drive copy of the map docked him a Cruiser - wait, he took three passes on them with his fighters?!?! Oh, brilliant, Jimbob. Heavy Cruisers have Detonator Blisters, same as Destroyers. That makes all your fighters gone. I guess you'll have to hope for replacements from Skyblade at some point.

  1. Agreed. This idea was actually tried in BfS II, and we didn't even let it go there. I tend to think this is the sort of thing that should just be "don't go there."
  2. That I'm going to let go, because I don't really think he gained much from it (read: I'm satisfied with the losses he incurred anyway, so it's irrelevant).
  3. Again, agreed, I'll probably dock a Destroyer and a couple of fighters. But you Dreden guys do need to treat close range passes with the Heavy Cruisers with a bit more respect because of the Detonator Blisters. Just remember what happened to Jimbob.

Okay, it's no problem if that's not allowed. It's not a big deal to me. I suppoes eit could get a little out of hand..... If we're arguing about little things like this though, what I would like to know is how Mac was allowed to practically destroy spl_cadet's fleet in the very first post. It seemed a little unrealistic, especially the part about taking down the Macross's shields without letting him respond.....

Eh, it really wasn't that long of a battle post... 256 Space Bombs can do a lot of damage real quick, even to a Macross. 😉 Believe me, I planned that up very well, and feel confident I can show that there was nothing he could have done to stop me. The bomb group was very fast and well supported, with enough HALOs to take down his entire fighter force, so a CAP would not have affected it in the slightest. I also had a few Destroyers in with them that could have screened very effectively against any interference from any Drakes/Halberds in position to stop them, at least long enough to get the bombs on target.

Skyblade I don't want to start a flame war but I do want to discuss this.

As the two alien ships approached it is my understanding that the DR fighters would of reached the Alien ships before any other DR ship. Therefore the HCruisers would of had sufficient time to destroy many fighters before the rest of the DR fleet, with the majority of the firepower, arrived! Do you not think so?

Destroyers aren't that much slower, and the way he set it up I assume they arrived at about the same time. Don't worry about it, I'm going to dock him a few ships when I get the map update up.

Also, RC, you forget that Dreden Plasma Beam Cannons do 6 damage. With so many fighters firing with that kind of firepower, those Alien Heavy Cruisers.

You likely won't be able to, but with the help of the defense fleet, you should be able to hold for awhile. Azdara can make the final blow once the going gets tough. Simply destroy as much as you can, and the reinforcements will take care of everything else.

Since all the action right now seems to be in Sentarus, I finished that map update, it should all be correct as of post 44 by RC, moving Saint+'s fleet.

Milky Way update will be soon, I hope.

Few other things here about the new battle, as I'm pausing to look at it:

First, Jimbob, I seem to recall mentioning that you lost all your fighters in those stupid maneuvers with the Verdica defense fleet. I suppose we could let you keep a few, but with only those attacking two heavy cruisers for several passes... they really should be all dead.

Second, I don't think your Plasma torps would be able to hit the Alien Interceptors. Look at the difference in maneuverability there. Heavy Fighters probably, but not Interceptors.

BTW Skyblade, how come you're complaining when RC moved Saint+'s fleet, and didn't earlier when Rak moved Carno's? 😛

Map looks perfect, only you forgot to mark Sovet as green and put Azdara's fleet there. But perhaps that was said after you made the update...

Alright, I didn't remember you mentioning that. About the interceptors, I can understand that, but a few probably would have hit. So, Mac, mod it like youm did with the other ones.

Well, I'm not entirely sure about this popular insurrection thing. How do you know the ASlien citizens don't like their Empire? Having been the Alien EMperor previously, I can assure you that they are well taken care of. 😉

I seem to see you ordering Azdara to Sovet, but he hasn't actually gone there yet. I also don't see an asterisk by his name on the homepage, which I do for Saint+. 😉

Say, maybe I'll let the insurrection stand if a small Alien fleet arrives to restore order at the same tme Azdara does... 😛

I believe what Azdara and I have posted regarding Imperial oppression is extrememly realistic. Watch the end of the Star Wars special edition (Return of the Jedi), and you'll see what I mean...

Um, I guess you're confused. It works like this. When the fleet commander is known to be out of contact and unable to post for himself (as Carno and Saint+ are now) the leader or a Fleet Admiral can control him directly. Otherwise they can just give orders.

Look, the main reason I did that was to get this crazy story going, since without Saint+ the Aliens would only have 3, and they needed 4. So, I had to do something to make it so we could be balanced enough to start.
