How the hell do you kill the stupid Alien Cruiser without it and the fighter's zapping you with particle cannons to death...Any solutions aside from the forklift cheat?

I've always found it easy even in a corvette. All you have to do is circle around its back firing guns and turrets. After you kill the cruiser you can ignore the fighters and go collect your pay.
Never could get the fighters - their shields recharged too fast. I was in a Kestrel with the Particle beam (you can see which side I was working for ). I had two Kestrel escorts, three corvettes and a rapier. I launched my lightnings too. My escorts kept the fighters busy while I hammered the Alien cruiser with my Ion turrets, particle beam and missiles. Never could get the fighters without cheating - I just ran away. (You don't have to kill them for the cash)

Nick, how did you kill the cruiser without the fighters killing you because they are rather fast, and it takes a very long time to damage a cruiser. Shrout, i don't have the benefit of all those escorts, nor a particle beam (i'm doing the mission for the rebels) I'm in galactic scourge as well and I'm in a ship with 100 shields, 180 armor, and it has 30 torpedoes , 4 proton turrets, a neutron blaster, a laser gun, and 2 proton guns, and a tractor beam as well like that would do anything. It's relatively fast, but it's acceleration is only fair after all the upgrades. All those fighters and those stupid beams swarm and kill me. ugh.

Mac and a few other people can beat 'em in a scoutship. It's really not to difficult, all you have to do is swing behind the cruiser, and nail him with you lasers and short range secondaries. (Javelins) Toss the torps and launchers and anythying else with range, and get 2 javelin pods and as many javs as you can afford.

Thanks for the advice jim...and luke, i went back a couple pages and found a topic...that helped a lot. So my strategy will be to grab the cruiser with a tractor beam when it's not facing me, and shoot it while running away...would that work then?
For the Alien missions, I personally prefer the Corvette, Lightning, Rapier, or Scoutship. Load up on as many laser cannons as possible, and buy yourself a tractor beam (and if you have turret space, use it as well). While you hammer the Alien ships with the tractor beam, you can pound them with laser fire. Keep it up long enough, and you'll beat the enemy's swift shield recharge rate.
Secondaries usually aren't a good idea against the aliens, though I often find javelins and laser fire together a good mix.

Just grab a ship, fill it with proton weapons, ignore secondaries and attack. Go on top of the cruiser and match course and speed. While doing this, and afterwards too, blast away. Ignore the fighters, they don't bother you.

How do you get the tractor beam? I've never used it in all my EV carrer and I've had EV since it came out.

Actually, if you are referring to cannon weapons, lasers are more powerful. When the damage and rate of fire is compared between laser and proton cannons, the laser has a slight advantage. Lighter as well. Proton cannons are just much more effective against armor, but that's not even a worry when fighting the aliens...

Simple logic really. Two Rebel crusiers come with you when you go to destroy the Alien Crusier. Those boys and any Confed ships in the system, along with any pirates as well go for the fighters most of the time. That leaves you open to assault Big Red and be back in Satori in time to watch the playoffs.
Attack fighters and Alien battlecrusiers should be feared however. shudders

Unfortunately in Galactic scourge, you don't get the cruisers, and the system where the alien is.....there's never anyone else there...never. hahaha well i'll give it another try.
The tractor didn't do a thing to the alien cruiser...this sucks! argh!

I've never used it on the alien cruiser effectively either. It's too large a ship to be effected by it. Use the beam for the fighters. The cruiser really isn't hard to beat... Much easier than the fighters in my opinion. Keep circling it and pound it with lasers. He usually doesn't have time to roast you with his heavy fusion beam if you have something like a corvette.
The cruisers aren't the problem, it's the fighters that zap me from all sides that is the problem...and the rebels didn't provide me with an escort, probably because i'm using galactic scourge.

Well, I usually take care of the alien fighters anyway, so I've never worried about having escorts. The fighters seem more annoying than dangerous; if you fight them correctly. The cruiser is more of a relief once the fighters are gone.
