Travel to Sol and buy Medical Goods , sell it in Spica. Buy Metal at Spica and then travel back to Sol and sell the Metal. Travel back and forth.
This is an excellent trading route, which of course will be rather tough to do once you pick a side, as Spica is a Rebellion-system and Sol is a Confederate-system.

Which version of EV are you using? To really rake in the credits, use the original EV, and trade medical from Yemuro to either Spica or whatever the planet above it is called.

Here is a list I composed a few months ago listing the starting prices of the commodities. Perhaps you can use it to discover some good trade routes of your own.
I've found that there are several good commodities worth trading between Spica and Hikeeba.

My favorite trade route is buy med's low at Adhara, then sell them at Lethe Prime, which often gets bombarded from the Cydonians, so the price is sometimes really high. Then, buy metal at Lethe Prime and sell it at Adhara. It works great.

Anyway, whenever I'm dealing with goods, it's almost always from a pirate. Then I sell it right away.

No, they aren't. A frequent victory from the disaster resource temporarily changes the commodity prices.

I'm in a "contrary" mood, but the truth is ... trading is a waste of time.
The best "trade routes" are to Loot the Looters. Take stuff from the pirates. Sell it the next time you land.
If your Argosy is beefed up enough you can take pirate Corvettes -- and if you're good -- even the odd Kestrel. Good systems to "troll" for pirates? Try 5465, by Spica; 1592, by Pirates Cove; 8113, by Lethe or 6762, by Sirgil.
Once you get enough credits you can buy a decent ship ... like a 'Vette. In that, you can regularly take the Kestrel pirates ... and gather credits even faster.

A great tool for trading is the EV Atlas. It has a map with prices of all commodities. Very useful for devising trade routes.
Actually, trading is a great way to get rich quick. I do the pollux-->procyon route. Trading lux goods form high to low, and on the way back trading food from low to med. It makes decent money; I usually just watch TV or do homework will mindlessly doing it to rake up credits.

Go to Lauralee and click "parrots" once. leave and land continuously. parrots reproduce as you have them longer. so keep that up until you can't have anymore, then sell them. or just go to the place above lehte to diagonal left and buy medical supp there, before you land shoot at something and let it shoot at you a little then land. medical supp will be raised and you can sell them.

Ah, I just love the disaster resource.
trading is useful early on in the game, after you get a desent ship, go disable any ship you can except when conferdertes ship are around. disable ships and take credits.

I've found that taking out Argosys in Rebel systems is a good source for income. Once I've got something better than a fighter, I start going for pirate corvettes and kestrels.
Do you mean trader and indepent argosies, or pirates?
