I think you're forgetting that the Defender doesn't have the Azdara's wonderful shielding and swivel weaponry. The only ship I ph33r the Defender in is a shuttle, but since I don't fight in shuttles that doesn't count.
I routinely take down Argosies with my Defender, how dare you insult such a graceful ship!

I routinely take down Corvettes in my Scoutship. This inclines me to say "So What?" to taking down Argosies in a Defender. Scoutships are also cheaper.

Azdara Ace screams towards MacAvenger's escape pod in his trusty old Defender, and kills him with a evil laugh and a press of his powefuls laser cannons. SO THERE! Defenders are the best fighter in EV, but definately ot the best ship. Defenders, with their quick shield recharge and speed can avoid any other fighter until they run out of secondaries, and then go in for the kill with its tri lasers. Death to all but the defender!!!!!!!!

Azdara Ace seems to have forgotten taht Escape Pods are invincible, however...
After getting his Scoutship Back, Mac goes back out and quickly frags Azdara Ace with a couple of Missiles, plus a volley from his own tri-Lasers.
Scoutships have a lot more upgrade potential than Defenders, ya'know. And with the speed upgrade, they're only 75 points slower.
75 points is a lot of difference when it's your life on the line! Azdara Ace laughs at MacAvenger for not realizing that Azdara Ace's defender has armour and easily survived his assault.

So you took up all 5 of your tos with armaplast, eh? That's fine, I still have 8 Missiles left... your Defender be toast. I only have a bit over triple the shield and half again your armor, after all, plus the Scout is more heavily armed and not much slower.
Mac pumps three more Missiles and a good Laser volley into the Defender, utterly destroying it.
/As Macavenger and Azdara Ace swirl in combat, they seem to have forgotten Cap'n Redeye is still here. Cap'n Redeye reloads his missile tubes and launches more nukes at both of them. He laughs as they are torn apart by his nukes and watches their escape pods fly lazily away. He then jumps out of the system leaving them dead in space.
But Skyblade and the Triton Corsair Rebel Destroyer await Cap'n Redeye in the next system, and avenge Mac and Azdara by totally obliterating him before he can scream.

Lyra pulls up in the Aurora and asks Mac/Azdara- "Need a lift?" After getting them both safely inside, Lyra fires up the Aurora and goes to lightspeed. As soon as the Aurora de-accelerates, Lyra uses a couple torps to disable Capn' Redeye, steals his money, and gives him to Arookee to have fun with. A quick fireball and the puny little rapier that was once the proud flagship of Redeye is now a mere cinder.
My vote goes to the Defender. Had the poll been the best ship out of those 5 (maybe 6), I would've gone for the Rapier. The Defender truely is the best fighter , but only in the players hands. EV's AI treats the glorious defender like you probably treat your old jalopy: Like a piece of junk that you try to blow up whenever possible.
Darn. I didn't see Skyblade's post. That sucks. I can't kill Redeye now. Arookee, who was happily battering Redeye around with telekinesis, is suddenly dismayed when Redeye's battered self disapears because of Skyblades post.
U were 2 kind. U gave him a quick, painless death. Now Arookee on the other hand...

The Triton Corsair and Lyra Engel are both ambushed and destroyed by a fleet of Confed Cruisers under Cap'n Redeye's command. He then goes into null space, where no one will ever find him again.

However, by doing so, Cap'n Redeye will have to live with the eternal knowledge that he was beaten and took a cheating way out of the situation. I think that's punishment enough.
Besides, what makes you think a fleet of Confed Cruisers could kill the Triton Corsair?

What makes you think we were considering anything made in plugs? Can you accept that just because you made a cheat plug, you can't use the ships and weapons in it every time a ship discussion comes up here and expect us to pay any attention? They don't count unless specifically stated otherwise, as a general rule.
