I'm trying to run EV on a yikes G4 but I keep on getting a type 4 error. Is any help I can get for this great game?BTW I turned the memory up to 40 mb.
------------------
Make sure all of the following are in your EV folder-
EV Data
EV Graphics
EV Music
EV Sounds
EV Titles
If you have all that, trash your preferences file... it's probably corrupted.

Error 4 dsZeroDivErr zero divide error
That's what Error Codes 7.0.1 says... probably won't help... good luck.

In English: It means the program tried to use zero as a divisor. That equals an infinite number, hence freezing your computer or giving you an error.
Quick Fix: I have no idea. Try my above suggestions

Try the things others have suggested, including trashing the EV prefs file. Also reduce the memory allocation - you should not need anywhere near 40 MB, probably no more than 10- and oddly enough too much memory can cause EV to behave strangely.

40 megs isn't too much though. I run EV with slightly over 40 megs preferred all the time and have never had any problems.

Really? I run EV on 150MB to 200MB RAM allocation. I have absolutely no problems.
I'm using OS 9.1

That rules out OS X Classic bugs. :frown:
Try e-mailing Ambrosia about it.

Erm, as I recall, a fraction with 0 in the divisor (or denominator) equals 0. 0/12 is 0 pieces out of 12, to use a pizza-related example (just had lunch).

A divide by zero error means that the denominator was zero, ie 12/0, not 0/12. While 0/12 = 0, 12/0 doesn't really equal anything meaningful that a computer can understand.

Heh. That's quite funny.
