Until now, I've always used Grinch's Mondocheat so that I didnt have to work for any money, but im not content with that anymore... Its more fun and challenging to work your way up from a pitiful little cargo shuttle to collosal Condor or something (Im playing EVGE).
Anyways, i found an awesome site for trade routes and other tips for early money making for EVO, but I cant find anything like that for EV. Now that ev.com is gone, is there any site with good tips on things like trading? Or if anyone can give me a few lucrative trade routes right here, I would be most grateful.

Pollux to Proycon. Buy luxury goods at proycon. Sell them at Pollux. Also New Istanbul to Spica. Medical Goods from Yemuro to Spica. Pirating the pirates along the route makes even more credits.

My favirote trade route has always been the Zaxted/Diphida route. This is a great route because you're carrying cargo both ways, increasing your profits. Cheap industrial goods on Diphida sell at high(or higher) prices on Zaxted Starport. You can buy cheap(or cheaper) equipment on Zaxted and sell it for medium prices at Diphida. You can really rake in the dough that way.
And then of course there's the whole Diphida/Astex illegal dumping thing. It's just a bunch of observation missions capped with some easy combat, but it's worth a cool one million credits once you finish. Good for building up the cash to buy a Corvette.

I have found that doing as many rush missions as possible is a fairly good way to build up cash. If you work your way up to a Scoutship you can often have 2 missions going at once, plus some passenger missions and a little cargo space left over for trading.

No, I was a regular before laer and HHunter became admins
heheh. Cool. I sorta came into the EV scene just as Skyhawk's reign of terror ended and HH took his job. I remember you being around at the time. I don't see many of the old names around here. I guess everyone ditched the boards after we lost ev.com. How did we lose ev.com anyways?
In EVGE,there's a good route right at the end of the Orion Union territory. One's a mine,and one's a fertile world with poor natural resources. The two are both right next to each other. Basically,you buy an Orion Cargo Shuttle and ferry medical goods from the fertile world to the mine,and metal from the mine to the fertile world. Eventually you can upgrade to a better Orion freighter,until you have an Orion bulk freighter and six bulk freighters for escorts. After that it takes very little time to make enough money to buy a Condor,or anything else,like a Polaris Battlecruiser later,once you've done the Polaris missions.
