What is the forklift? A rediculous weapon that ruins EV... Don't use it unless you like to spoil epic games.

Er, perhaps you have failed to read the topic title? I read the first post then replied.

Yes, but the only reason the topic's been resurrected is for goatman's inquiry. The 1st point was debated and the question was answered. It was a factual question anyway.

Hmmm...So your point is, members should first read all the later posts before reading the first and replying? I confess I didn't see goatman's question, but simply posted my opinion of the first one asked. I think that is the "order of operations" out of whack...
general rak, thanks for the welcome and the info. i went thru many days of posts (mostly from the first two months and the last three months) and didn't find an answer, so thanks for taking the time to reply in detail.
to the rest of the board: sorry for having brought up non-forkliftish questions, but since i'm unregistered on the boards, i don't think i'm allowed to post new topics, so here i am. then again, the first post kept this thread kind of open-ended. . . .

No problem. No reason to apologize, since being unregistered won't let you post topics of your own.
Also, I big you welcome also. Plan to register as an Ambrosia member anytime soon?
I agree with you. I only asked the question 'cos I read about it somewhere in the faq or the most frequently asked questions. I only use the first time I go through a tough part in the game. (then I re-do it without the forklift). In Galactic Scourge it is quite handy to have, because that plug is very hard. They also made the Confederation almost difficult.

Galactic Scourge is by far an advanced plugin in terms of gameplay and missions. But beating Galactic Scourge without that blasted forklift is all the fun.

Anyone notice that this forum is almost half a year old, and it only has one page?

It keeps being brought to the top of the list at odd moments.

Hey, I'm a newbie to the boards here, but I've been playing EV since it came out, and I recentrly rediscovered it. Now, long long ago, I beat both the rebel and the confed mission strings, however, on my new redoe, I can't for the life of me remember how to get going on the rebel missions.
I was wondering if anyone could assist me in starting up the tractor beam or alien missions, I've already completed the special ops thing that gets you the cloaking device. Oh, and that Clotho Prime weapons redistribution thing, is that an infinite quest? Thanks for the help.

I do believe it is, but you could check Res Edit.
Just check a lot of rebel bars and you will get the alien missions if your combat rating is good enough.

Yes, you can distribute more weapons than the rebellion would ever have use for, and the missions will still keep going. These missions are just there to be challenge and scrape up some cash if you need it. Like their Confed counterpart, the Jericon shipping lane missions, they will never end.
Although I never really do these missions anyway, so I could be wrong.

Thanks for the replies guys, and following the advice of bein a bar mongrel, I did pick up the alien battlecruiser mission, which I promptly completed. Now, I'm wondering if I can still get the tractor beam mission, even though I have finished off the aliens, and if so, if there is a particular stellar I should lurk in to acquire it.
I was also kind of wondering what the mission opens up as so I don't automatically dismiss it. Thanks again.

The Astrodyne Outpost Recruitment mission starts with this text:
From Escape Velocity 1.0.5: A Rebel officer approaches you. “Captain... we need your help,” he says. “Are you willing to do a little ‘pickup’ for us?”
I think you can still get it after completing the alien missions. It starts on Palshife, and I believe you have to be an Upstanding Citizen with a Dangerous combat rating.

The Astrodyne sequence can be started before, after, or I think even during the Alien sequence. The only requirement mission-wise is that you must have finished the Special Ops. Destroying the Aliens has no effect one way or the other.

Thre Forklift cheat isn't working! I hit option click on the screen where it loads, and I don't get anything? why is this happening!
------------------ Jimbob
When you get to the screen where the "Enter Ship", "New Pilot", etc. buttons come up, you have to option click on the large Escape Velocity title at the top of the screen. Keep in mind that use of the Forklift is discouraged, as it may have many negative side effects on your piloting skill. Best used on a new pilot made specifically for goofing around with it, just to see what it's like.
I believe you are actually supposed to be option clicking on the "Escape Velocity" title graphic once the game has finished loading and you have all the menu options avaliable. Then just wait for the appropriate message to float up and type in the appropriate code.
