well, I finally found the alien string and I have come so far in getting the mission to Destroy the alien ship... well were is it??? I play 4 confeds and I have gone through every system in the trugati astroid fields and plenty others from outside the trugati astroid field

I'm not sure how much this will help, but I just completed the alien missions not five minutes ago for the rebels, and that sneaky battlecruiser was lurking in the Gamera system, or one of those around it for me. I seem to recall encountering it out by Tryvin one time too... though I could be wrong.

Once you've destroyed the alien cruiser, you should be able to buy the Confederate patrol ship, gunboat, frigate, and heavy cruiser on Luna and the Rebel Manta, destroyer, and cruiser on Palshife.

Assuming you've destroyed the Alien Battlecruiser, just hop on over to Luna. Their shipyards will have what you're looking for. Still, you'll wish you were flying in a Rebel Destroyer.

although the confed rebel said something about Luna, cant remember what right now but I also went to palshlife to see if I get some rebel stuff but I didnt....

I know I destroyed the alien cruser, they congratulated me and stuff and when I land at Luna I dont see any shipyards there, but a funny thing is that I can buy a patrol ship in outfits, so something is wrong here... I tried quiting EV and then start it again but it didnt work

What version of EV are you using? This bug occurs in some older versions; if you aren't running 1.0.5 you should upgrade.
1.0.2 is the version I am using... I would be happy to upgrade but I cant :frown: because only my PC is hooked up with internett and not my Mac so I cant do it....
Probably a bug in the data file, the wrong mission bit or techlevel on the ships or something. If you want, e-mail me the file "EV Data" in the Escape Velocity folder and I can probably fix it. If you know how to use ResEdit to work on plugs, you can do it yourself.
(edit) Reading more carefully, it looks like a problem with the Luna spöb, which I can also fix. The only way I couldn't is if it was a bug written into the engine, which I doubt. (/edit)

Couldn't you stuff and encode the file on the Mac, copy it over to the PC, and send it from there?

Does your Mac have a floppy drive? If so, I think I can arrange something for you.
I have tried to download a plug-in from PC take it on floppy drive but that didnt work out... but I can try to take the "EV Data" in the Escape Velocity folder and take it on the floppy and send it 2 you, dont know if its gonna work though.... whats your email adress?

OK, David or someone else who may know more than I do, will simply downloading an uncompressed plug onto a PC kill the resource fork? I don't appear to have anything around to compress files, I'm still looking.
And yes, escape_alex, you need a PC formatted floppy, but don't mail me anything just yet.

Yes, it will. No resource fork can exist on a PC. The file will have to be compressed or at least encoded.
Ok, it looks like I can upload a patch to my web space in BinHex (.hqx) or Mac Binary (.bin) format. Which of those do you think would work better? StuffIt should handle either. It just needs to be done so that it won't get decoded automatically on the PC, and I haven't used PCs enough to be at all sure about how best to stop it from doing so. On my Mac, those file types get decoded automatically by StuffIt as soon as I download them.
