Reasons I should register EV

Ok, my 30 day trial period is almost gone. :frown: Why should I register? You know the reason the mods won't lock this topic? It means that ambrosia will most likely get another $20. But, why should I register? I know I'm supposed to and that it will help Ambrosia, but it's just another $20 that I would use towards buying a gamecube. Are there any advantages besides Cap'n Hector and the shareware notice going away? Since I'm emulating EV, (it runs just as well as it would on a mac) if I buy a mac would I be able to download EV and use the same license code? Should I be one of those people that never registers? I know you're out there. What should I do?

I would have to say register it. in doing so you are showing your support of the product, and helping future ambrosia products reach fruition (especially E.V. Nova). And also, if you do get a Mac, you can use the code to put it on that computer, so that captain hector(ina) doesnt bother you.

Register. No one likes cheaters. For all we know you'll use a cheat code.

I wonder if that was the brightest thing to say on a Web Board run by Amrosia...no, it wasn't.

I just realized that the $20 will affect my Gamecube situation in no way what-so-ever. So, could someone please put up a link to Ambrosia's privacy policy?

Besides, Insano, if you don't register, you will discover the evil side of Cap'n Hector. 😉

Also, sine EV uses older Ambrosia registration protocols, the same code you get for your P(iece of)C(rap) should work on a Mac. For Nova, you would have to e-mail them for a new code, but it wouldn't cost you more money to get one for a different computer, no worries.

Do you think I like my PC? Thing is sooo unsteady. The only reason I'm hesitant to get a mac is

a- Price. Macs seem to be very expensive
b- I know how to do a lot of stuff on a PC. If i got a mac my computer knowledge wouldn't be very good.

Ok, so, can someone show me Ambrosia's privacy policy? I couldn't find it.

a- (url="http://"http://store.apple.com")http://store.apple.com(/url)
You can get a new iMac, which will do pretty well anything you'll need, for $999. If you want the More Power Tower, a 733 G4 - faster than a majority of PCs currently available - is $1699, but you will need a monitor with that. The iMac comes with everything you need except a printer and any other peripherals (i.e. Scanner, Digital Camera, etc.) you might want, and how hard is it to find a decent USB printer?
b- Don't worry, they're easier to use. You'll catch on fast. Besides, you'll still have access to the PC, right?

Unfortunately, I don't know where the Privacy policy is either, since I haven't registered anything recently. That will change once EV Nova is out though.

I think that the privacy policy is on the game already. You just click "register" and I think it shows the privacy policy. If not, try going all the way down on the main page of ambrosia. My friend has had an unregistered copy of the game, and I was talking to him over the phone while he was playing and hector blew him up. My friend thought hector was just gonna attack him with lasers. I think you should register. You could also buy the original imac for, I think, about $600-$700. Besides, macs are a lot better. The only time you see mac with a virus is on "The Net" (a movie with Sandra Bullock for those of you who didn't know that). PCs get viruses all the time, but macs hardly ever get a virus. The one bad thing about a mac is that their monitors aren't that great. One last thing, windows stole from mac. Bill wasn't creative, he just switched things around. All the things you can do on Windows, you can do the same on macs. THe only diference is that the stuff is in a different spot.

I know that Windows ripped off Mac. That's why mac is overall better.

Very true. Three years ago, I had owned the unregistered version of Escape Velocity for over 600 days, and Cap'n Hector sprayed my down with his weapons. Bad part is, you can't shoot him back. :frown:

Hmm, you must not have one of the w00t 15" flat panel LCD Studio Displays from Apple. Mine rules, it's the best monitor I've ever seen, aside from the larger Apple flat panel jobs, which are cooler only do to size. Apple makes great monitors for the newer machines.

Agreed. But I personally prefer my ViewSonic 21" moniters over Mac counterparts.

I got a ViewSonic, I think it's 15" (the actual screen, not the plastic part). Alost all the mac monitors I have had messed up. They may be good, but they don't last.

Older ones didn't true. Many of the ones from the era when PPC chips were first coming out had one of their color guns go out or other problems. However, I have yet to see any similar problems in the newer ones. LCD monitors are a much better technology than the older ones anyway, and should last longer on their own.

Is there a website where you can d/l the PC emulation/version of EV?

You may also be able to use your PC Monitor with your Mac. I would highly recommend the G4, although I am not sure if you want to jump into OS X. It is very, very different. Good luck, glad to hear you have seen the light. 🙂

You don't download the emulated version, you download the emulator. Then you download the regular version and run that on the emulator. Go find one of Warbeast's posts and look in his sig for a good tutorial.

I just registered EV, thinking I was gonna get my liscense code right away. But, no. They have to process it first. Oh, well.
