ahhh! I'm fighting the Aliens, and I have no idea how to fight them, because they can fly faster than my torpedoes, and when I approach to attack them short range, I get killed. any suggestions? Btw, how the heck do you get the tractor beam?

You have to complete the rebel "astrodyne outpost" missions to get the tractor beam. How to fight the aliens... Don't kill the fighters, you don't need to. To kill the cruiser, stay right behind it while firing all of your primaries (lasers, protons, etc.).

I finished the acroydone post missions, I think. I dropped off the seal team, and got the code and nifty million credits. Is that the last part?
Well, you're not done with those missions until you have the tractor beam. So, if you don't have it then you're not done.

Yup, the last few have a lower occurance than 100%, to make them happen a wee while (hopefully) after you've done the first lot.
However, cheesy cheaters can 'abort mission' when they've no active missions, thus resetting the available missions at the planet/satellite. Just check the bar again!
Though you don't need the tractor beams to kick alien butt, as otherwise you couldn't do it for the confeds.

heh. I beat the aliens. Sort of. When I went in I cloaked right away and everyone else blew up the alien crusier. Fact: If you have the cloak on, enemies that were after you stay still until they reappear. And I got the Ten million credit prize, so I have a nice rebel cruiser now.
Congratulations, Jimbob, you've just discovered the second-cheapest abuse of EV's AI, which I consider marginally legal. You can kill the Alien Cruiser in a Scoutship that way. Works good for dominating planets too.

A Rebel Cruiser? Alright, I approve of the Rebels, but the fact is, you picked their second-best ship. Try the Rebel Destroyer. You'll like it.

No. The Reb Cruiser is the best ship in the game. It take out anything. Btw, It isn't possible to get the tractor beam before destroying the alien cruiser. Unless you use some sort of cheat. The cruiser has much more room for primaries than the destroyer. My cruiser is maxed out with primaries and shield/armor upgrades and speed upgrades.

You can get the Tractor Beam before killing the Alien, I've done it before. Go look at the data files again, you have to have completed Special Ops to get the beam, same as for killing the Aliens, so they can come in either order.

To do quotes, you use the quote tags, which look like this: ( quote) ( /quote) Without the space inside the brackets. So entering this text, again without the space in the quote brackets:
