 Where can you download ResEdit for EV? I used to know where it was, but I can't find it anymore!

But beware: If you're new to ResEdit, then you won't survive without the EV Bible at your side. You can find it on the same add-ons page as ResEdit...

Actually, when I started with Res-Edit, I used the Beginners' Res-Edit Guide for EV (also found on the (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/ev/addons.html")EV Addons Page(/url)). I find it's a lot simpler and less confusing. Of course, after you get pretty used to Res-Edit, you should be using the EV Bible. But you should start out with the Beginners' Guide.

Interesting...I've never even heard of the guide. I started with the EV Bible, and although some of it didn't make sense at first, I got the hang of Res-Edit pretty swiftly.
Well, different people learn different ways. I didn't understand the EV/O bible at all, the first times I looked at it. But then I went and got the Beginners' Guide, and understood it perfectly after making my little Igadzra Beam plugin, and starting out my other plugin (which isn't finished yet; Daedalus Developers is going to be working on it after EV: Free Enterprises).

You've got a good development team at your hands, but you've utterly ripped off the Corsair Developers. :frown: Anyhow, good luck on your plugins...
Sorry about Daedalus seeming like a ripoff of Corsair, but, to tell the honest truth, I wasn't thinking about Corsair the whole time I was starting it up. I just wanted to help CrazyChipmunk find another developer for EV:FE, but it finally blew up into a whole group of developers...
Again, sorry for it looking like a ripoff of Corsair. :frown:
PS-I don't think CrazyChipmunk has a very high opinion of you anymore, Skyblade, after he read your post on our boards.

Again, sorry for it looking like a ripoff of Corsair. As for Chipmunk's reply at the Developer's Corner, all I got was a flame. Had I know he behaved like that, I would have never allowed him to join the Corsair Developers...
...As for my post on the Daedalus boards, I simply stated what I thought. If Chipmunk has a problem with that, then he can contact me.
I hope your new team gets off to a good start. Diddlysquat is one of the best programmers I've ever seen, so don't underestimate his plugin abillities.

Res-Edit and EV-Edit are the same thing when you are making a plug-in. Which one is easier. I found EV-Edit a lot easier, but in some points, I couldn't figure it out, which res-edit explains, my only real problem is have a good 3D and 2D graphics maker (such as Bryce). But also EV-Edit is suppose to be LOADED with bugs. I did all my systems with EV Developers Map, put the in EV-Edit, debuged them about five times, tested the plug and it didn't work. Was it me or EV-Edit?
If I get all this to work, my plug-in will be called Parellel Universe, or have something to do with the Lethean and Cydonian war.
EV-Edit is indeed pretty buggy, so it could easily have been it's fault. I never liked the GUI on EV-Edit anyway, I suspect Dr. Ralph's will be much better, from the Screenshot I've seen of w00tRalphTools™. Until they come out, IMHO, ResEdit is the best plug making utility you can use.

I figured out what was wrong with the systems. I needed to re link the systems after they were put in EV-Edit, I dont know why. Then after I was done exploring them (100 jumps later) to make sure I didn't miss any, a corvette killed me when I got back to Lethe.
EV-Edit isn't the same as ResEdit. My opinion: ResEdit > EV-Edit. It's really not THAT hard with the templates. Plus people say that EV-Edit is quite buggy...

Because EV-Edit is full of bugs It is possible to make plug-ins with EV-Edit, but you will still need ResEdit to clean up the messes EV-Edit makes, as you have discovered. For many of us it is easier to avoid EV-Edit altogether and use other more reliable tools. EVO Developers Map is far superior to EV-Edit for system design, for instance, and there are some newer editors that show promise of combining the stability of ResEdit with the ease of use of EV-Edit. And of course ResEdit can be used to modify any of the resources used in EV, such as dialogue boxes, which EV editors can't touch.
