David Arthur sat on the bridge of his Argosy, listening to a hyper-wave radio news report. "In other news, Centauri Spacelines has launched a lawsuit against the Confederate Space Navy for monetary losses resulting from their failure to adequately defend the Capella system."
Suddenly, the red alert buzzer went off. Stardock Alpha had sent out a distress call. He ordered his ship to enter the battle, and alerted the incoming fleet to join them.
------------------
A voice boomed over the loudspeaker system. "Attention, citizens of Stardock Alpha. This is Station Commander Rollins speaking. The station has been boarded by rebel troops. While we are confident that our security forces, with the help of CSN, will be able to repulse them, we are asking, for your safety, that all civilians temporarily evacute the station and report to the Confederate authorities on Luna until this situation can be resolved. Emergency transports are available on all decks."

"Okay, men. This mission is essential. We have Capella, New Britain and Tabletop. If we can capture Sirius Station, we can assemble four warfleets and attack Sol from all four sides. We would have no chance of losing." Vaten's fleet was currently in the Sauron system, preparing for the attack on Sirius Station. A couple of Heavy Fighters jumped in and were annihilated by turbolaser fire.
"You see that? That's how you deal with Heavy Fighters," said Commander Vaten. "They are going to be a problem, though. I wonder if the Confed heavy cruisers are carrying them yet?"
----------------------------------
They didn't realize it, but some particle beam-equipped cruisers were moving towards Sirius right now for debriefing on an attack on New Britain. They were timed to get there right when the 42nd Warfleet would.
------------------ Let's see...they're diamonds on wheels. Cool.
"Secretary, there's a call from the Minister of Defence coming in for you on the hypercomm," said a young lieutenant. David Arthur turned control of his Argosy over to his first officer, went to his ready room, and answered. "Minister?"
"You aren't going to believe this, but the rebels seem to be sending even more ships towards the Sol system."
"Why would they try to attack us when practically all of CSN is here, not to mention the Terran defence fleet?"
"I don't know," replied the Minister. "It seems that Navarone's strategists are letting the military get out of hand. In any case, I'm diverting all available fleets to the central Core Worlds. Hopefully, we'll be able to take advantage of this mistake and destroy everything the rebels throw at us. Earth out."
As the 42nd Warfleet jumped into the Sirius system, there were only five heavy cruisers waiting for them. It was not a long battle. The 30 or so Patrol Fighters were annihilated by the numerous fighters of the warfleet, and the cruisers first had their engines disabled, then were destroyed entirely.
"Mr. Navarone, we have control of Sirius."
"I don't like the sound of this," said Navarone over his radio in Palshife. "It's far too easy. Be on guard for a counterattack." Even as he said that, 10 Heavy Cruisers jumped into the system, along with 30 Frigates, 100 or so Patrol Fighters and 40 Heavy Fighters. "Yes sir, they're here," said Vaten, then switched his radio to the ships' channel. "All right, men. We can win this. Everybody, release fighters and fire."
Five Frigates and a Cruiser were destroyed in the first minute by an innumerable number of torpedoes. All of the Star Cobras were dogfighting with Heavy Fighters, and they were taking roughly equal losses.
"Starscreamers," Commander Vaten yelled into the radio, "Fire all bombs at the Heavy Cruisers. They aren't equipped to deal with those."
Vaten's Destroyer, the Zalif, was having to fight off a number of Patrol Ships on its own, but doing rather well with its five turbolaser batteries, as well as its Compressor Beam.
Vaten spoke into the radio, "All right. I need a detachment of Mantas to help guard my ship. The rest, concentrate on the Patrol Ships and engines of the Frigates. This battle isn't nearly over yet."
That statement was reinforced when five of the Heavy Cruisers shot their particle beams, to the dismay of about twenty Mantas and four Destroyers.
"All right. Destroyers, get out of there. You aren't fast enough to deal with the beams. All warships, retreat past fighters. All Mantas, concentrate on the engines of the Cruisers. They aren't fast enough to take it for that long. Starscreamers, use the bombs on the Frigates, then the Cruisers. They can't catch up with the Patrol Ships. Star Cobras, you're doing a good job out there. Just keep dogfighting with the Heavy Fighters. There's only 10 left."
All of the Heavy Cruisers quite suddenly lost their engines.
"That's it! We can win now! Nice job, guys. Now go for the 80-odd Patrol Ships flying about."
As the precision bombs pounded the Frigates, they started to make a retreat behind the line of fighters.
"To all Mantas: The 10 Frigates left are trying to retreat. Go see if you can't stop them," said Commander Vaten into his radio. He was very satisfied with the way the battle was turning out. "All warships stand still and destroy any fighters near you."
Five Frigates managed to exit into hyperspace. After the remaining Patrol Ships and Heavy Cruisers had been destroyed, Vaten spoke into his mike. "Great job. We didn't take very many losses. What's the count, Admiral?"
Davies now spoke: "We destroyed 12 Heavy Cruisers, 33 Frigates, 92 Patrol Ships, and 37 Heavy Fighters. We lost 3 Assault Carriers, 2 Rebel Cruisers, 19 Destroyers, 26 Mantas, 12 Star Cobras and 3 Starscreamers. All in all, it was very good."
Vaten now spoke into his radio to Navarone, back on Palshife: "I think I should warn you, there were many more ships than you expected to be there. I don't know if you should really send the 213 Naval Division to Sol. We need reinforcements, and It may be a better idea to send them here.
"Stay there and wait for any more counterattacks, Commander. You did a very good job on the Confed counterattack. You will definitely get reinforcements soon.
The Confederate Minster of Defence was holding a press conference on Earth. "If the situation on Stardock Alpha is, as you say, under control," a reporter asked, "then why were the civilians evacuated?"
"We're only trying to ensure their safety. In addition, the presence of a large number of civilian ships in the Sol system should discourage the Rebels from attacking, for fear of causing collateral damage. It's basicaly the same trick they pulled in the battle of Apollo, where the civilians of Armstrong were evacuated to prevent us from waging war effectively."
"This is ISN, the Interstellar News Network. Centauri Spacelines today announced an unprecedented new venture to their shareholders. It seems they've filed a lawsuit against the rebellion in the neutral court of New Istanbul for financial damages resulting from the rebel conquest of Capella..."
"...In other news, several hundred civilians died today in rebel attempts to crack down on the resistance movements on Capella and Tabletop."

Since I seem to be representing the Confederation in this thread, and a lot of my posts involve internal Confederate politics, I've taken the liberty of writing a short article explaining the Confederate political system that I've been using since my first post in this topic. You can find it at (url="http://"http://members.aol.com/darthur1/confed.html")http://members.aol.c...ur1/confed.html(/url).

Grrrr...Everyone's launching these attacks on earth, when I've spent the last hour writting the offense made by the 213th Navial Division in Microsoft Word. It's based on the Sol offensive and the commando raid, but I guess I can't post it now... :frown:
By the way David, you're doing an excellent job representing the Confederation.

Hmm, I assume you moved the research center from Ruby since I blew it away, David?
And Sattomax, I thought Assault Carriers were my design. Have they appeared in some plug? Also, mine carry 8 Mantas, and yes, Skyblade, they are realistic.
Macavenger's fleet is not technically affiliated with the rebellion; though it consists of all rebel ships, it is commanded by a mercenary captain who works to further the rebellion's ends.(Read: I do not take orders from Rebel High Command, but do work against Confeds.) After demolishing the research base at Ruby, the fleet travels to Port Oread, to regain supplies and rest, while preparing for another offensive, against an as yet undecided Confed target. This will occur soon, stay tuned...
------------------ So go on the internet game sites and bash all the PC users!
Sorry, Macavenger. I had to modify them to include the other two types of fighters.
The reinforcements had arrived. Commander Vaten was very satisfied with himself. Jonathan Navarone had told him to go to New Britain, where the 213th Naval Division was stationed at that moment. Sufficient defense forces were left behind at Sirius Station.
Navarone was waiting for them at New Britain. "Okay, Commander. This one's could be tough. You're going to have to pick up a spy from Stardock Alpha."
"Stardock Alpha!? The whole Terran Defense Fleet is stationed there," Vaten exploded.
"Yes, I know," Navarone reassured him. "That's why we're installing a cloaking device on your ship. Be careful inside the station, though. Just go to the bar, and wait for him. He will be dressed in a black cloak and hat. Then leave. We will know you are there, and send your ship back to get you. Don't worry, Commander. It's possible you will get a promotion for this. We really need the spy."
"Well if you put it that way, I guess I have no choice," relented Commander Sa'amo Vaten. "I guess I'll be going."
"Good luck, Commander."
--------------------------
Vaten was off. As soon as he hypered into Sol, he cloaked, noticing an odd number of civilian ships. He circled Station Alpha, neutron rifle under his cloak. He wished High Command would finish on their research of the soon-to-come photon rifle and grenade. It would make these encounters so much simpler. The commander was let off the ship somewhat near the bar, then the ship cloaked again and disappeared.

"...In other news, the Confederate Space Navy announced today that the civilian population of Stardock Alpha will continue to be housed on Luna for the time being. The station will be turned into a secure military facility until the current wave of Rebel attacks subsides. Finally, we've arranged an exclusive interview with Robert Jerrison, a professor of law at the University of Locari on Levo, who's been watching Centauri Spacelines' controversial lawsuit against the Rebellion in the neutral court of New Istanbul. Professor..."
Already, Confederate personnel and marines were being offloaded from their ships onto Stardock Alpha.
Macavenger, if you take a look at my Confederate Political System document, you'll see that the research center is now in the Ministry of Defence buildings on Earth.

(August 19th, 15:30 hours)
"Major, cut power to engines one, two, and three. We've arrived at Sol," Commander Skyblade said.
"Roger. Commencing shutdown of engines. Triton Corsair and 213th Division now entering yellow-alert speed," Major Ronsard replied.
a few million miles outside Stardock Aplha, the 213th Navial Division exited hyperspace. Twenty-five cruisers, six "C" class cruisers, sixty-six destroyers, twenty-four star cobras, and four-hundred mantas strong. The Triton Corsair lay at the head of the fleet...
"Jenkins, I need a sensor report," Skyblade requested.
"Yes sir. Sensors indicate two Confederation frigates, and three patrol ships."
Commander Skyblade chuckled. "Well, seems as though Confederation has been caught off guard. Lieutentant, give me comm channel two to the 213th."
"All warships, arm weapons and get rid of hostile targets as quickly as possible!"
Throughout the fleet, amazing numbers of mantas dropped from their docking rings and raced toward the Confederation frigates, which had just now sighted the Rebel fleet. In a short eleven seconds, both warships were decimated by incredible amounts of guided missiles, and the patrol ships didn't last much longer.
"Sir," Jenkins quickly stated," all hostile targets have been destroyed. Area secure."
"Excellent. Proceed to dock at Stardock Alpha, and Lieuteant, tell the rest of the fleet to take positions surrounding the station. If the Confederation does send us a large fleet during the operation, I want to be ready. Captain Carlos, you have the Corsair while I'm gone."
"Aye, sir. Commencing docking sequence,"Captain Carlos said as he brought the Triton Corsair alongside Stardock Alpha.
Commander Skyblade, who was to lead the assault on Stardock Alpha, ran down a few levels of the ship to the barracks. There, he found his commando team preparing to take on the operation. Most of them were veterans from the last assault, so this would make the job easier.
Skyblade swiftly grabbed his infantry belt, and attached six neutron grenades to it. A few seconds later, energy clips, two turbolaser pistols, a medical kit and various accessories were also added. After fitting the his camo bureau on his head, Skyblade grabbed his automatic turbolaser, complete with a silencer.
"Ok team, let's move!" Skyblade yelled.
As the team of ten commandos headed to the airlock, Vance Vollorium let out a laugh. "We all remember this door, don't we?"
The same door that the commandos had blasted away weeks ago sat in front of them, which had obviously gone through some extensive repair.
Commander Skyblade gathered his team together.
"Here's the plan. The R.S.S. Hornet, Relliant, Starseeker, and Nova will release squads of heavilly-armed Rebel Troopers, each containing fifty troops, at docking bays one through four. We will go through this door, docking bay six, and perform the same menuvers we used last time, only we'll be more successful with the aid of troops at our flanks. Now, let's get rid of this door!"
The commandos stood away from the door, and Vance Vollorium detached a neutron grenade from his belt. He hurled it at the door, and seconds later, a huge hole emerged after the smoke cleared. Skyblade then threw a bang grenade through the hole, in order to stun any Confederation guards that might be on the other side. Lieutenant James was the first to go through the door, and a few shots of turbolaser fire were heard. After Skyblade went in, he saw that James had shot three guards who had been stunned from the bang grenade.
"Good work, James. Now all we need to do is get to the power room again."
With that, Skyblade ran down the hallway to the right. After turning the corner, two Confederation gurads (there is a differnce between guards and troopers. The guards carry proton pistols and no armor. The troopers carry armor and proton rifles, and are better trained) opened fire with proton pistols. The commandos quickly silenced the guards with a few shots from an automatic turbolaser, and the team raced for the power station.
After opening the door to the power room, it was obvious that the Confederation had learned to guard such rooms. Eight troopers turned, but before they could fire, Vollorium tossed a bang grenade through the door. Six of the guards were blinded by the flash, while the other two were sprayed down with pistol fire. After the commandes had shot all the troopers, Skyblade ran for the power box.
"I remember this box," Skyblade whispered to Vollorium.
Skyblade only had to cut a few cables before all the lights blinked off. The hallways and rooms were now pitch black; just what the commandoes wanted. The team fitted themselves with night-vision eyewear, and ran out the room. After reaching the turn where the last special opps mission had failed, the team slowly emerged from the corner. Vollorium could see two guards at the end of the hall, both in panic since they couldn't see. Lieutenant James gunned them down with a few bursts from his sniper turbolaser.
After reaching the point where the two guards had been shot, the commando team saw a squad of Rebel Troopers moving in to join them.
"Commander Skyblade? This is Commander Von Brown. We've cleared out airlock section three, and all hallways behind us are cleared of Confederation resistance."
"Excellent," Skyblade whispered. "Atleast we'll have an escape route when needed. Now I need you to take your team and get to the outskirts of the shield generator. It's located directly in the middile of the station, so proceed with caution. I'll take my team around the other side and hopefully penetrate Confederation security."
"Sounds good, sir," Von Brown said. "Good luck." Commander Von Brown's team quickly moved down the left hallway, while the commandos began heading down the right. For five minutes, no Confederation guards or troopers had been sighted. It was obvious that the station had been evacuated, but the team remained on their guard.
Seconds later, Skyblade entered the shield generator compartments of Stardock Alpha with his team. The size of the room was breath-taking, and the generators were extremely large. If it weren't for the fact that some of the commandos were carrying timed-high explosives, taking out the generators would be impossible.
"Alright team. Let's get down there as quickly as possible and get those explosives set. There's no telling if we are currently being watched or not," Skyblade stated. "Vollorium, you take Major Wilson and Lieutenant Strider with you to set the explosives. Lieutenant James and I will form a defense perrimeter surrounding the generator with the rest of our men. Let's move!"
Three of the commandos raced for the bottom of the main shield generator, while the other eight scurried off behind kraits and pillars that surrounded the generator. For forty-five seconds, all was quiet. The three commandos were in the process of setting up the explosives, while Skyblade kept his eyes alert.
"Commander, explosives are set and ready to be detonated. All we need to do now is get out of here before triggering them," Lieutenant Strider spoke in nearly a whisper.
"Very well," Skyblade added. "Get the rest of the team and we'll hea-"
Skyblade's words were cut short by a sudden burt of proton fire. A blue bolt ripped through his arm, causing him to give a brief yell. After being stunned for a moment, he quickly reacted.
"Common, let's move! The Confederation have found us. Head to escape routes two and three. Double time!"
Vollorium and the two other commandos with him raced for the doorways that entered into the room. While the rest of the team followed his example. Enemy proton fire increased, and the lights suddenly blinked on again, making the commandos easy targets.
Skyblade, grasping his wounded arm, glanced to the rear where the fire was coming from. Hundreds of Confederation troopers were pouring into the room, with every intention of annihilating the commandos.
Lieutenant James was the first to reach the door, but was suddenly hit twice in the back from proton rifle fire. As Vollorium picked up the wounded commando and pulled him onto his sholders, Major Wilson was hit in the neck and head, killing him instantly.
Skyblade continued to yell orders to the commandos, doing his best to get the remaining men into the safety of the hall. After the remaining eight were out of the generator room, Skyblade then realized that Major Wilson was the commando who had been carrying the trigger detonator to the explosives, who was now laying dead nearly fifty yards away. Proton fire continued to hit the walls and floor surrounding the doorway.
As Commander Skyblade readied himself to run out and get the detonator, Vollorium took careful aim with his sniper turbolaser at the explosives hundreds of yards away, and let off a shot. Seconds later, sparks emerged from the bomb, where a hole had been punched. Then slowly, the bomb began to explode, ripping away at the base of the main shield generator.
"Well done, Vollorium! Now let's get to the ship!"
As the commandos raced down the hallways as fast as their feet would allow, the floor shook with fury as the generator gave away. A sudden explosian then knocked the team off their feet. It was then that they realized their mission had been accomplished.
The commandos reached the airlock without any resistance, and raced into the Triton Corsair. While the medical staff aboard the ship gave care to Lieutenant James, Skyblade ran to the bridge.
"Sensor control, give me a read on Stardock Alpha's shield status," Skyblade ordered.
"Sensors indicate that Stardock Alpha's shields are decimated, and it's own armor is all that's currently keeping the station together," a young officer replied.
"Then now we can do what we came for. All ships of the 213th Navial Division, arm weapons and prepare to fire on Stardock Alpha."
The same officer who had just given Skyblade the shield report then spoke again. "Sir, we are now picking up two entire Confederation warfleets warping into the system. They'll be here within seven seconds!"
Commander Skyblade, who was preparing to destroy the station, quickly retaliated from his previous decision.
"All warships, take up battle positions!"
==============================================
A Confederation warfleet is made up of twenty cruisers, sixty frigates, one-hundred gunboats, and two-hundred and fifty patrol ships.
I'll continue the battle once I get the time.

We have a bit of a continuity problem here About half the Confederate Space Navy was still in Sol with no plans to leave as of my last post, and most of it was around Stardock Alpha.

I know, I'm a bit confused here as well. About three other people have posted totally different things about what's going on at Sol. Oh well, just remember that there are two Confederation warfleets warping into the system, so that should fix the problem...Maybe the Confederation ships decided to jump a system away from Sol, then ambush the Rebel fleet at the appropriate time?
I had brought the Confederate fleet there actually for upgrading, not for defensive reasons, but to avoid any further confusion, let's just say that the entire half-fleet is returning now. So, the Sol system contains:
a large number of Confederate ships (most of the cruisers have particle beam cannons
Captain Skyblade's Rebel fleet
my Argosy
a large number of civilian vessels travelling from Stardock Alpha to Luna
Stardock Alpha, which has been severely damaged, and has on board only a large number of Confederate personnel and some Rebel troops.

Sounds good to me. I'll try to get rid of that blasted argosy sooner or later...
Thankfully, Commander Vaten had gotten off of the station before its shields went down and the Confeds were there. He had returned to New Britain to discover, thankfully, that Navarone had an automatic turbolaser rifle there for him.
"Thank you, Mr. Navarone. This should make things much easier," Vaten told him.
"It's your reward for the spy pick-up, Commander. I hope it will help."
Reinforcements had arrived from Capella. The 42nd Warfleet had merged with the 75th Battle Group, creating the new 371st Naval Wing. The 371st contained 15 Typhoon Carriers, 10 Rebel Cruisers, 10 C-Variant Rebel Cruisers, 55 Destroyers, 150 Mantas, 30 Star Cobras, and 50 Starscreamers.
Navarone spoke again. "Commander Skyblade's fleet has detected two Confederation warfleets hypering into the Sol system. He believes he can beat them. I think he is right. Palshife intelligence has intercepted a coded Confederation message to a warfleet that is right now stationed in the Vega system. The message says that the warfleet is going to Capella to attempt to retake it. We want the 371st naval wing to intercept and destroy this fleet in the Zebetrious system."
======================
Sorry for any confusion my previous posts may have caused. I was attempting to continue with what David had written before about the defense fleet.
At a meeting of the Senate Defence Committee, David Arthur was finishing speaking. "The rebels have picked up our message to Vega, and appear to believe it. Now that they're moving to reinforce Capella, we'll be able to carry out the plans we've made with the Rigellian resistance." The other members start to get up, but he stops them. "Oh, there's one more thing we need to talk about. It seems that our friends at Terran Naval Yards have made a rather interesting arrangement with a certain corporation..."
Originally posted by Captain Skyblade: Sounds good to me. I'll try to get rid of that blasted argosy sooner or later...
Lots of luck. It's upgraded in some interesting ways, and of course the Confederate Navy is ready to protect it. Anyway, it's well stocked with escape pods, and in any case, I'm often not aboard.
Overrider brings his fleet of 20 Cruisers 69 destroyers and 300 Mants's into the system. "It's crazy!" Overrider says. "All attackers in the Fireblade fleet attack any rebel in danger!" Fireblade splits up and blows as much of the 50 cruisres 90 frigates and 450 patrol ships
