NH ships

Ok well i figgered id do an NH ship poll as well. One rule, no mention of the ships available to you after LOI string. One specific one outclases the rest of the games ships. It should not enter into this discussion. However, there are some great ships in the game, and i think a good poll could come out of this as well.
So, what is your favorite, and why:
1: Fighter (civilain or military)
2: Light cap ship (corv class, civilian)
3: Light cap ship (corv class, military)
4: Heavy cap ship (Enigma/class, civilian)
5: Heavy cap ship (TNY carrier class, military)
6: And just for fun Pirate ship.
Here are mine
1: Chaos. Flat out, it is the best, manueverability, fire power, sweat looking. It rocks. Leprechaun is also kool, but by the time you can get one it is late in the game.
2: Arrow, if i have to choose one, norm i just skip this class over, i dont really like any of the ships in it.
3: Light Cruiser (rebel) Ok this ship rocks. It flat out kicks ass. I have seen one of these take down a TNY carrier with no support. They have awesome firepower/weapons? they are fast and manueverable and their shields recharge quickily. I love this ship.
4: Enigma. It owns this class, plus it looks the best out of this class, and is made by the same people who make the chaos.
5: Alright this is where it is at. The TNY Carrier is decent, and has some good weapons, but it pales in comparison to the high end rebel ships. The PAN Carrier is awesome. Powerful weapons, good speed and shields, looks awesome. You could also make a case for some of the TRDF ships, although i dont like them as much as the reb ships. For my money the PAN Carrier is the best.
6: Ok i dont like pirates, but i do think that the devistator is a pain in the ass. those SOBs have a huge weapons load, and enough shields and spped to put a dent in a small ship. Try runnin a trade rout with 6 bulk frieghters, they will destroy your frineds faster than anything else.
Post yalls favorites. it will be a nice laternitive to the same old reb cousier/confed cruiser, reb destroyer/confed destrouer debate.

I played New Horizons (NH) for about a month. I spent most of my time in the Enigma. I did the LOI and Rebel alien missions and never found a ship better than it. Or rather, that was better enough to be worth the hassle of upgrading (go get/steal the money, buy ship, hunt for my favorite outfs). My Enigma was so thoroughly dominating that I never felt the need to upgrade. I barely remember anything but the Enigma.

For corvette class, the asteroid miner is by far the best and after adding photon turrets(?) and an energy lance, it was OK in battle.

The EXPLORER is still my favourite NH ship. Great speed, acceleration and good turning ability. Not too powerful! New Horizons has IMHO the Best Ship Graphics! The game also includes my all time favourite Primary Weapon - the Energy Lance.

Energy Lances are good, true. However, NH doesn't have the best graphics. Nova does.

1. Hm, toughie, I would have to say Vulture.
2. Probably Omega 7. Those things are better than they look.
3. Rebel Light Cruiser, I guess. pretty much skipped that class.
4. No opinion. Skipped this class too.
5. Hard. All the Carriers are sweet. I'd probably have to say TRDF Tempest Carrier.
6. Didn't like any of them.

I respect the work the authors put into NH, but it did not have the best graphics, not even close. See Pale and especially Mugabi & Destiny for fabulous graphics. After them is Final Battle, Clavius, and EVGE with very good graphics.

The graphics in NH were all over the spectrum. Consider the TNY Carrier and Catapult fighters. Competent, but not "the Best". The midrange ships looked more like candy than ships. The large pirate ships were dreadful. The Bio-ships and that Infinity ship made of energy (I forget the name, you get escorted by them after kidnapping a VP from Infinity) were excellent.

I like the arrow (my civilian ship favorite). Although it only gets four turrets, you can upgrade it and kill anything. It hasfast shield recharging.

My favorite warship is the one showed on the start-up screen (I forgot what it was called), it gets 8 turrets and is plenty fast.

My favirote ships were the Enigma and the Pheonix (Sp??)
The Enigma is a beast of a ship and can take on anything in the hands of a good pilot.
The Pheonix was the ship i completed most of the game in, its has good speed so you can out run those missiles which if against Pirates there are loads and decent weapons and shields. Only thing it lacks is armour but thats only a slight con. those were really the only ships I used.
Weapons: The energy lance rocks, against fighters it is formidable.

I didn't mind the Graphics the story line made up for them.

Stick 3 partical beams on any ship and it is nearly invulnerable. I've never used the enigma, but it would probably work a lot better with some powerful beams. (of which there is a lot of, but not necessarily powerful)
