This is not really important but you know it is possible to bribe the Lightning fighters that the BH Kestrel uses, thus leaving the Kestrel on its own.(I mean lets face it, the Lightnings do most of the damage anyway)

Interesting...I've never tried it. Of course, I don't court retribution by dominating planets, either. Maybe someone else can speak to this.

No, they jump out of the system. But it's nicer when you disable the fighters (something you should be able to do if you're good enough to dominate a planet), get the Kestrel as your ship (if you want it, otherwise just keep it as an escort), and board the lightnings which are your fighters, now!
