i've download the EV "Game Expander" update 2 a few days ago ... however i've noticed a few problems when i played the game, the polaris/orion governments weren't on the map, the ferry passengers run gave me 35,000 creds without a sweat (just 2 jumps away on confederation space !), and the escort comment for a few ships was blank ("you talk to the lexury liner." and that's it !!)
well that led me to the conclusion the update 2 available is not a standalone, but since no page can help there, and the official (and only) GameExpander page is down (geocities slowly delete files from idle pages, an evil deed for classic pages i guess) ...
if i actually need the original basic plugin in order for this update to work please contact me or reply if you can help. howver, if not, i probably should know anything about the lacking orion/confederation note in the map, the easy missions or the lack of decriptive text on some escort ... please reply.
thanks in advance, i really appreciate any reply !! syrogite

There is no base plug. This is it. Try reinstalling.
syrogite: Are you using an old pilot file? If so, this could be the source of your problem. EV Game Expander is meant to be played with a brand-new pilot file; indeed, the accompanying documentation flat-out says that "some things won't work the way they are supposed to otherwise."
You may start a new pilot file yourself, or use the "Captain Scumdog" pilot that came with the game. You may want to change that file's name, though.

so what you are saying is that :
1. EVGE adds incredibly easy missions with high income - instead of transporting people to the outreaches of the galaxy, navigating through hostile territories (very hostile) and gaining 10,000 cr's i can perform 35,000 cr's missions with zero-risk, in very friendly territories two jumps away !! (really ruins the game, you have no choice as the 10k missions are hard)
2. the bulk transporter costs exactly as much as the light transporter, has the same stats and 500 more tons (so what if pirates like it ... it's still better)
3. no orion government in orion (cough ... cough ...) the same for polaris (but they do roam around killing their enemies)
well if none of those things should have occoured and it's just an installation problemo then let me know, i have searched pretty much throughout the internet and found no docs of what so ever on this plugin ... (some info is ussually on the homepages, but this one is ... arrmm ... no so up)
thanks syrogite

I don't recall saying any of those things.
Try a new pilot file and see what happens.
well ... i formatted my mac harddisk today (was about time, unrelated though), reinstalled EV and stuff ... well, since i always start a new game when trying new plugins i've figured out everything is "fine" with my EVGE (unlike what the docs stated the orion system isn't IN-and-BEYOND the orion system but only beyond. (a little 3 jumps beyond)
the bulk frighter problemo is due to poor design i guess, but what's the catch with the 35,000 cr's missions ?? it totally ruined my slow progress advancement (like in the original EV or the other plugins which i haven't got deep into - no time for serious gaming yet) it's like giving me a century/rapier after half an hour of gameplay ... since the other big plugins are more politicial and less on the Extreme-Vs-Extreme (IE starwars) concept, this one is the only one that expands EV and doesn't change it by 180' degrees (oh yeah the starwars ! plugin only changed the ships, but need more change actually, and magma changes the graphics but doesn't add new and essential medium ships like the centuri in EVGE etc).
(yah my next post will probably be in the "best plugin" topic hehe, but i'm still a newbie here aren't i heh)
Thanks for helping so far !

30-100K missions are standard for EVGE. There exist multiple million credit missions. You will find that the plug provides a range of new ships and outfits that are much more expensive than what you are used to in EV, so the money goes as fast as it comes.
well i guess i picked the wrong plugin here ... a lot of ev fans around like the progress itself in the game - thus diabling the normal missions and boosting the standard can really ruin the gameplay, if you get a high fighter in no time you don't value what's considered simple much anymore, yeah, of course you can say that there have been added a lot of more expensive/high-end ships here, but that makes the gameplay just streaming with more missles and annoying star-destroyers, and throws the value of that good cargo shipment straight to the trash.
maybe it's just me

Well said. I sympathize, I like trading and the thrill of being seriously threatened by something. Dispite its emphasis on big warships and outfits, I consider EVGE one of the better plugs out there.
