Every planet in the sol (ruby to)system has close to 3167 ships for a defence fleet. You can destroy them but you must have alot of time on your hands. I used ResEdit to lower the number to 6 (I'm not saying I'm fair)
------------------ if it dosent doesn't squiel its not worth killing
lol! i should do that! i think i destroyed about 900 before i gave up.

sobs If I only knew how to use ResEdit sniff cough cough FORKLIFT! cough

I'm the EV newbie here.......
I've played about 20 hours, about half or 2 thirds on my current one: Rick Hardslab........
Rick's stats:
Ship: Corvette "Blade" worth 1.51 mil trade-in. (highly modified) Gov: Started Confed but now am Rebel supporter/pirate Systems in Control of: Capella and soon Levo Combat: Deadly Battle Tactic: Monty Python, Dead Shields Money: 5 mil Legal Status: At least criminal in every non Fed system, Decent Individual or higher in all but one Reb system.
That's as of now....in an hour or two I will have at least a Kestrel, and will get Fake ID so I can start the Reb missions (is that possible? I already transferred Confed documents)

Its possible your overlord status in the Confed systems you take over will be reset when you buy the fake ID (for Confed only). The only reason you might ever want to do this is to complete both missions strings, which doesn't happen too often.
No, you will stay overlord in all the systems you defeated.
You don't have to use ResEdit to lower the ship numbers. Before I became sort of good with ResEdit (I fiddle about with stuff, but don't usually get far - now, though, I can change ship numbers, the ship the player is in... and some other stuff that usually doesn't work) I used EV-edit. I know there are people on these boards who hate EV-edit with a vengeance, but it is easy to use. Simply put a copy of the EV plug-in (the standard one that comes with the game) in the EV-edit folder, and the other stuff he asks you to do, then create a new plug, name it whatever you want, then go to 'stellar' or something like that, and you'll see the map. Double click on the system you want to dominate (sol, ruby, sirgil are usually targets for a spot of tinkering). It comes up with the system map. Double click on a planet. It comes up with loads of stats. There's one box with the number of ships in the defence fleet. Change it to 1, or 6, or 22, or whatever, and choose the number of ships per wave. Save the plug, stick it in the EV-plugins folder, and then demand tribute from said planet. That should do it.

Can somebody put a list of the easiest systems to capture, in order of easiest to hardest?
I'll start it of The hardest planet is :Earth Anyone care to continue
But really that wuold be really hard......well time consuming. Genaraly it goes like this Independant, Rebel, Fed.Also it depends on the survices (ship yard, out fits, ext) provided on a planet, the more survices it provides the stronger it's defence fleet. So if I were you take out Levo its easy.
Tryin' to get or capture a Kestrel before I start the Reb mssions. Already have Capella captured. I have 5.03 mil. After Levo what should I capture? And what system gives you the most money (in tribute, or in pirating, state both), and exactly how much?
I ' dont know all that, probably no one knows exept the game creators. Since you are with the rebels you can attack all the southern most planets of the feds. Most of them give a fair ammount of money, also pirate planets pay alot but are some what harder to capture.
i just captured the Levo system. Which system would be easiest after that, in a modified Corvette?
Come on I'm not going to tell you each system one by one but as I told you start capturing Fed systems in the south from there move north skipping Sol and Rigel(?).
Strange. Even in a Rebel Destroyer or Kestrel at Ultimate rating I never captured a planet.
I just don't like even my enemies hating me, since I like to land wherever I can.

Why not? Its fun , it pays and the only thing negative is the bounty hunters.
More negatives:
Loads of people hate you
It's a boring exercise
The money is pretty useless - by the time you're gaining enough to make a difference, you already have the best possible ship for you with all your favourite upgrades.
If you accidentally give the system back (ummm.......it happens :)) they hate you.
Blowing up bounty hunters gets boring.

Well I guess we have totaly different views on wats fun and wats not.
skip sol and centauri. try taking the southernmost planet (libertystation?), it only has defenders and gives you about 2k credits. in evo you can get up to 7k credits? well anyways in evo i have an arada worth about 5mil. about 60k credits tribute.most missons done.unregistered crdits from 20m to 30m.
Taking over planets is easy with the forklift and if you take over the pirate systems people will like you more. Also no one cares about Lethe and Cydonia! Eventually the Bounty Hunters leave. And if every one hates you for taking over planets you can buy a shuttle (to get your credits back) and escape pod. Then just self-destruct (defalt-apple+D)and when you start to blow up hit the eject button! And you will once again be clean in every system!
------------------ They'll try to kill 'em all with the FORKLIFT!

actually your status of overlord is always there unless you release every one of them, and how does buying a shuttlecraft give you credits back?
