Hi everybody.
yeah, I know it's been a while....
I was thinking of a couple of new flags for EV or EV:O
One of them prevents a weapon from hitting small sized craft. As it relates to Pale, I was thinking these would be cool for cruiser-grade armaments. Cruiser-grade primary armaments (heavy anti-ship weapons) wouldn't be usable against small craft such as fighters.
It's probably easy to program, just make the fire condition FALSE IF ship mass <= 50 tons. It's probably 4 or 5 lines of code, inclusive of declarations.
The other flag reflects stealth shaping or coating to a ship to make it harder to detect. In game terms, there's 3 mass categories for ships. This flag reduces a ship's mass category by 1, to a minimum of 1. I guess all it will really do is make medium size ships (which are small with this flag turned on) not subject to damage from weapons with the flag above. Also, it would change any vessel's blip on the radar screen from large to small.
Just wanted to share an idea.

You know, if you're interested, I still have those Pale EV:O files I worked up last year. That was all "pre-baby" of course.
Anyway, let me know via e-mail and I'll send the files your way.

Some of these would only be useful if you were playing other "players", and would mean nothing to AI. That's almost preventing PKing if there was a multiplayer.

Yeah, that's true, Mizra. As far as the 'stealth' flag goes, I was thinking of adding it to maybe one ship. I was thinking of the small pirate vessel with the 4 wings (Sheesh, I forgot the name of it...). It seemed to be a good idea, but if it's already a 'small' vessel, then I guess there's no point...
Hey, John. What's up? About Pale:EVO, I think all we had to do was beta test an after burner flag for a couple of fighters. Having play-tested it, though, I think it throws ship balance out of whack. What did you think? I think we got everything else (jump speeds, heavy armor flags, etc.) Is that all that had to be done?

I was definitely challenged by the fighters. But not too challenged. Personally, I liked it, but the ultimate decision is yours. I believe everything else is done.
Well, the problem is, I've been away from the plug/EV environment for too long. Off-hand, even if it weren't too challenging, we only addressed the defender, the manta, and the confed patrol ship. What about the other fighters? I'm referring to game balance among the types. I believe were were trying to give the light fighters a little boost. It's a super-cool effect, but the whole balance thing razzes me.
Yeah, I think we should dump it. BTW, although I created the plug, I don't regard myself as the instrumental person in porting the plug to EV:O. That title goes to you, so if you like the burner, put it in.
How are you going to post the plug-in?

Honestly, I hadn't given it any thought.
I'm hard at work on another plug project that has gobbled up my webspace. At any rate, I guess I'd feel more comfortable sending the files to you for approval before uploading them anywhere. Don't know if that's possible on your end however.
Let me know.
