One thing I've noticed recently is that the Escape Velocity web board seems to have as much, or even more traffic as the Override board. Have many users suddenly gone back to playing the original Ambrosia hit game, or just gotten plain tired of Override? I myself haven't touched Override in atleast three months, as I've gone back to using Escape Velocity, alongside plugins such as "Galactic Scourge."
Anyway, I just found this interesting. Maybe if I continue to see some serius traffic here, I'll port "The Dreden War" to Escape Velocity for sure once we're done with the Override release.

EV is better, as it has better graphics, and most people seem to prefer 2 in depth governments to half a dozen badly designed ones (no offence ot EVO fans).
I haven't played either in months, since I have a PC without an emulator, but I played EVO most recently, so I mainly post on the EVO board.

I duno. I just seem to like EV better.

Maybe it's that the universe is so big in Override, and that it takes a lonnnnng time to make delivery from one side of the galaxy to the other. I really don't know.

All of you have logical reasons...I personally tend to stick with Escape Velocity, since it seems nowhere near as rushed as Override. I also believe that EV might have the better story line, and I love the ships much better then that of Override. (Rebel Destroyer, of course. :))
There is an advantage to Override, though: the mission bits have the strength to do more.

That's true: I've found that out myself while editing or making plugins...
Has anyone noticed how EVO's graphics are more bulky, and have less detail?

I'd really like to get EVO but the Mac doen't have internet... yet so all the plug-ins I get have to fit on a disk, and EVO is too big.

i like ev more 'cos its just more fun. like you can max out all your turrets and guns. but evo does have more missions.

Yeap...That's one reason why I get the sensation that Override was a bit rushed.
one reason that i dont like EVO is my cloaking device disappeared!(favorite addon) Plus lots of the ships look retarded, the only ones i think looked cool were the turncoat, crescent fighter, Arada, and UE fighter( i think i forgot one). Also, the game starts you off with combat neare the beginning of the game(at least you sell the gun for 4000 credits), which EV didnt do, plus it was easier to get a ship that lets you make a profit some way or another(in EV that is).

But one factor that I actually liked about the beginning of Override was that you started with atleast some form of defense...

That blaze cannon you start with is useless for defense against anything that might attack you like renegades, the weakest of which mount 2 blaze cannons.
EVO Graphics-- The intro screen was disappointing, it looked like amateur work. Maybe I have been spoiled by Pale, Eye of Orion, and other plugs with cool intros. The UE ships and freighters that I saw as I flew around were ugly (my god what is with the UE freighter!). Not an intentional uglyness like the bulk freighter of EV, but carelessness of design, When I saw that hunter missle outfit, I decided right then that I am not buying EVO (I happily paid for EV).
EVO Story-- There was a typo in the description text of the first planet I landed on. I have seen grammatical errors elsewhere. Understandable in a plug, but not for money. I have not played through the entire scenario yet, but so far the story seems to be mush. I am down in the Southern Tip with the strandless, been as far southwest as I could go, now moving east. The game has not yet told me what this strandless-war deal is all about, I had to read spoilers.
EVO plugs-- never tried em. Since I am not buying the game, probably never will unless the shareware enforcement turns out to be something I can work around, like dodging Capt'n Hector.
I have EVO 1.0.1. Is EVO 1.0.2 better (ie replaced ship graphics, properly rendered intro, cleaned up descriptive text)?
Oh, and has anyone ported EV to EVO?

Yeap, I believe so. Though I don't the know the name of the plugin, I know someone recently released a plugin that changed the Override universe to the original Escape Velocity.

Remeber that English can be quite different depending on where you are.

Yeap, no kidding...I myself am trying to learn all of theEnglish language.
that's because you can't keep it after you buy another ship.

remember, that in evo they use british english. and yes they realized their grammar errors and thus 1.0.2 came along. (i actually read the doc.)
