Skunko, I hate this game. No, I love this game.
Anyway, KK is "out" of this challenge. I propose you call for a "Skunko's Challenge" three or four times a year. I have determined that Strict Play requires a different game philosophy/strategy. I'll learn more about it in the next Challenge....
I spent another two hours on it last night. With my 10th (!) Shuttlecraft I worked my way to a 'Vette with Clipper escorts / was "in process" with some good mission strings (Ruby's planet - to Clotho weapons cache; Lucas's pirate thing; lots of Starbound missions, the Uridium mission...) / accumulated nearly 10MM credits / and had successfully dominated five systems. Great, huh?
Not so great. I got careless in a dogfight with three pirate Corvettes. "Hello, Command-E again!"
"No big deal. I'll just zip over to Earth and pick up another 'Vette, ASAP."
In heading for the edge of Levo's gravity well (to jump to Rigel) a Bounty Hunter Kestrel and his two Lightnings jumped me. (Remember, I had dominated some planets....) They wasted me ... and I had no escape pod yet.
I'm not starting from "zero" again in this Challenge. (I hate this game.)
For what it's worth, my money is on El Guapo....

I would really like to know how much time I have left in this challenge... I've sort of run out of mission strings to do for the rebels... how many people are actually doing this challenge apart from me and ElGuapo? And where are the pilots are going to be sent to? Please tell me!
Sonuva I only decided to check the normal EV board this week so lte in the month. I am screwed unless I can get a pilot scrapped together in 7-8 days. I will see what I can do and join in for sure next time. You will LOSE mwahaha. Actually if my schedule carries over to this one next time, I will probably lose due to lack of time, but I will still participate this time anyway. Umm you guys probably don't understand anything I am saying now. Its not late here I am just tired, but I am also loaded on pain killers for a torn leg muscle. I am gonna stop babbling now....sorry.

Ok I started yesterday so cut me some slack on the mission progress. Here is my current status. Combat: Ultimate (what can I say I just know how to fight) Cash: 7-8mil fluctuates right now (know some quick million dollar tricks) Ship: Kestrel with all the trimmings I like Missions: just finished the cloaking device mission for rebs, and I did the diphidia missions. When is the due date for the pilot files, because I am aiming for the alien missions completed then.
How is everyone else so far?
Rebel Cruiser with all the trimmings, 5 Kestrel escorts and 1 confed Frigate, 35million in the bank, all the rebel mission strings done... I don't think I left anything out.... so, how long's left?
Can we complete both the Rebel and the Confed mission strings?
Please?

Oh well don't expect me to participate in this one anymore, I just..died Define Irony: There I was flying along in my Rebel Destroyer with two as escorts and another two kestrels on toppa that. All the rebel strings done, along with many other missions, 30mil in the bank, and everythign i wanted on my destroyer, escape pod included. So I decide I will dominate planets, I take over the majority of the confederate states and many annoying independent people (diphidia, zaxted, lethe, cydonia, and so forth) along with all of the pirate places (very tricky) so I decide I will take over mars and luna. i finsih luna and move to mars, I have half armor so I cloak and let my escort do the work. a few rockets come my way(I was not paying attention right then) and nearly kill me so I start to run and run into a cruiser and launch the escape pod. So I have enough to get back to where I was with a little work so I keep playing, when low and behold (the ironic part) there comes Matrix(my AI character from CC's ev webboard plug) attacks and kills me, due to a grudge when I had killed him earlier! So I had not even had a chance to buy an escape pod before I was attacked, so now I am dead...completely. If I drop off enough frustration I will continue my new pilot.
Heh, Dr. M will not be defeated so easily. After a slow start--I don't have any million credit "tricks", and I lost a maxed out corvette while dominating pirates haven--I have a rebel destroyer, 8 planets dominated, ~ 1mil credits, but only a Deadly(!) combat rating.
I never really appreciated the UGE missions until after I lost that corvette. In non-strict mode, I would have reloaded the pilot file. This time, I had to buy another corvette. I did not have enough cash to equip it though, but UGE delivered.
I chose to side with the confeds for this challenge, but they will not give me the alien missions. Could it be because my standing with the confeds was cleared when I lost that ship?
All in about 11 hours of total playing time. Where should pilot files be sent and when?
And the EV community holds its collective breath....

Has Skunko7 posted anywhere lately? I am beginning to think he cut and ran when he realized that he was going to have to look through 10-20 pilot files totaling up 6 ratings for each file, and compiling 6 lists. If he does not show up soon, I request that his karma be dropped 5 points.
IMO, the challenge has gone on too long now and everybody has achieved everything worthwhile in EV.
I got all the confed missions done, dominated about a quarter of the galaxy, bought 4 rebel cruisers for escorts, I fly a rebel destroyer, and have about 7 mil (remaining) in cash.
I'm starting a new pilot to play the mugabi and destiny plug.
Well, I'm still waiting on skunky...
BTW, sorry, phil - cable_guy's got me beat. He knows a few more EV/O tricks than I do (I would never sink so low as to call them cheating)...
Anyway, I've got a Corvette with 20 million credits. I have 5 Clipper escorts. They're great - I can load them up with cargo and NOBODY ever bothers attacking them - they all go after me!
So I can bean a pirate argosy, take his stuff, sell his stuff. Works with confeds, too.
Oh, and I'm a rebel - they got to me first, as I said...
You want to know my secret? Really? Well, alright. Come on, come closer. No, closer, that's it. Right, the secret is... don't take risks. I started in my shuttlecraft, and just did rush missions within confed space. When was the last time you saw a pirate in a confed system? Exactly. 2 hours and 1.2mill credits I purchase a rapier. Load it with a load of torpedoes and start bounty hunting in Darven. Killing corvettes is easy, and, luckily enough, when I boarded my fifth one, I captured it (7% chance). Use it as my ship, no outlay, 500k in the bank, upgrades time. 4 shield capacitors, a torpedo launcher and all the armours. Great. Begin rebel missions. Rebel missions half way completed, only alien mission to do - start attacking kestrels, boarding, captured one, no outlay. 2.2mill in the bank, upgrade kestrel (the only problem with boarding is that you lose weapons like the tractor beam), start alien mission, complete it. Buy rebel cruiser. Back to Darven, more bounty hunting. Get 20mill. Start Artemis missions. Have fun. Finish Artemis missions. Back to Darven. The trick is to spend all your time in Darven, taking on kestrels, fed cruisers and frigates. Disable 'em, board 'em, nick their money, try and capture them, and eventually you get 42million, 5 Kestrels, a Frigate and a Rebel Cruiser. Nice.
