The EV Challange

Okay, I was playing with EV 1.0.0 earlier, and came up with this method for proving who's the -true- best --

Using EV 1.0.0, which has no plugins and is always in strict-mode, people have untill the end of the month to get a pilot to the best level they can.

To reduce the already slim potential of people using pilotfiles from eons before, or for them hacking the pilot, there will be a few tweaks to the supplied pilots (which will be in orbit of Levo) to allow identification.

2 days before the end of the month, I'll request submission of pilots. Between those two days and the end of the month, I'll accept pilots, and they'll be graded on a few things (no particular order):

  1. Cash
  2. Value of ship
  3. Missions done.
  4. Ranking for their government
  5. Number of dominated planets.
  6. Combat rating.

Winners will be in 5 catagorys -- Trader, Pirate, Reb, Fed, Independant. Traders will be moved to "Independant" if they have over a "Noteworthy" combat rating.

Rewards? Pah. You get bragging rights. 😛

Sound fun? I'll only do it if I get 10 replise here saying people are interested.

Hey skunko...

I only got 1.0.5... I'd dearly love to prove I'm the best, but does not having 1.0.0 disqualify me?

I'd cheerfully agree to any conditions you want - you could even create the pilot file and send it to me, so you could verify it's "strict play".

How about that?

I'd provide a copy of 1.0.0, duh. 😛

There was a download URL posted here, but I can't find the damned thing. Doesn't help that search doesn't work.

sounds alright, but 1.0.0.... oh come on, why can't we use 1.0.5? Besides, 1.0.0 has the annoying 'never-ending cargo space' bug, and mission bits that wouldn't finish occasionally. I mean, I understand that you don't want any cheating, but, frankly, if you cheat then you are a sad and lonely individual, only fooling yourself. Besides... 1.0.0 doesn't agree with any of the computers I use... 1.0.1 is the lowest version I've ever used for prolonged periods of time. If it was 1.0.5, I wouldn't hesitate to join in, but 1.0.0... well, I'm a bit... wary.

------------------

And if you are concerned about cheating, then the never ending weapons space bug and the infinite fighters bug are more dangerous for would be cheaters.

My point exactly...

Ooh ooh! Don't forget the Bulk Freighter/Mass Expansion bug!

Yeah, it's not going to be easy to stop cheating.

shrug.

Consider this the start of it, then. 00:00 Monday, EST USA.

Pilots must be in EV 1.0.5, strict mode.

I want in, but just to check my understanding of the rules 😉

  • Pilots must be created and played on EV 1.0.5 in strict mode with no plugins. (for example, EV 1.0.0 pilots are disqualified)
  • Pilot files are sent "somewhere" TBD on March 30 for comparison.
  • Results will pe posted "somewhere" at "some point in the future".
  • Entrants will be ranked in 5 categories: Cash, Ship Value, Missions, Govt rank (piller of society, honored leader, etc), planets dominated.

I expect the winners will be the persons playing the most hours over the next month. I normally play about 4-7 hours/week and don't see this changing in the near future.

In your first post, you said:

--Sk

Are you still supplying pilots? If so, where do I get the pilotfile? For now, I am starting my own.

------------------

Yes on all counts but one -- they'll be ranked by alliance (Reb, Fed, Indy, Pirate, Trader).

Just create the pilot in strict mode 1.0.5

Due to the fact that anybody can just cheat if they want to, the honor system is all that's really going to stop people from cheating their arses off.

Count me in.

FLOBBLEDEEFEE, that's what we said when we were mad or frustrated, we said it because we were idiots. A bunch of inbred, illiterate, cro-magnons, blowin' our noses on crusty handkerchiefs, waiting in line for our heads to burst into flames. That's the way it was, and we liked it!
