Lately I have been playing EV (unregistered). Just today after capturing 2 Argosy escorts (once pirates) I have been chased by pirates. Every time (well almost every) I enter a new system or leave a planet pirates come hyperspacing in! I need help! What's goin' on?

I can promise you that capturing the pirate argosies isn't the problem. I'll bet you have a mission active that invloves being chased by pirates, or atleast hunting a pirate warship down. Can you say what missions you currently have active?

If you have accepted a mission previously and either not completed it or not cancelled it out where pirates chase you from system to system (such as if you have accepted a bounty hunting mission) then they will continue to do so until you finish that mission.
If that isn't the case, then I have no idea right now.

Yeah, that's probobly the problem.
Personally, I don't like capturing escorts... they are too hard to control and they can be a pain in the rear.

I have no current missions, just killin' pirates and takin' the cargo to sell. With my 340 tons of space, which I'm proud of. LOL

Ah, then I know what's wrong. If you have no active missions, and have escorts that have a large amount of cargo space, the pirates will ALWAYS attack. This is even true in Override. Once I hired six freighters to help me participate in the commodity exchange, and immediately, even in the Sol system, and average of two to four pirate vessels attacked me. The truth is, if you're going to have escorts, prepare for the worst. The pirates are cargo and money-hungry, and they like fleets that may be rich. If you have warships as escorts however, this usually is not the case.

That is it, pirate fleets will always appear when you have a freighter-type escort. The only ways to deal with the problem - short of editing the game resources - are to fight them off the best you can (or run away from them), ditch your escorts, or hire/capture warship escorts to escort your escorts.
Note that by luring the pirates into systems that are not friendly to you and destroying them there you can improve your legal status.

Ive found the same problem, although it is NOT linked to escorts, as I never use them. I believe that it has something to do with your ranking or combat worthiness. It seems that this always happens to me after I become noteworhty or dangerous.

So even if you aren't carrying any cargo in the escorts you can be attacked? Oh and when I am it is usually 3or4 pirates (lightings and rapier) then other time just 1-3 defenders. Or is it because I have a combat ratin' of dangerous?

I disagree. I believe it is just when you have a large amount of cargo space (which your escorts are providing). The pirates are just trying to do to you what you are doing to them!

The problem occurs when you have over 2 freight escorts. Honestly, I know what I'm talking about.
I fly a trade route from Zaxted to Diphidia, and get pirates quickly after getting over 1 or 2 escorts. It doesn't have anything to do with cargo being carried, just the number of feighter escorts you have.
If you have too many freighter escorts you'll get Lightnings and Rapiers on your tail too.
Try and cut down to one freighter.

I pay an older version of the game, and I used to fly between New Istanbul and Turin with 6 light freighters packed with medical supplies. I don't recall any real trouble from pirates.
If you have cargo-carrying escorts (ie any type of freighter) the EV engine will automatically send a fleet of pirates to chase you every time you come out of hyperspace. If you have a small amount of escort-carried cargo space, the fleet will consist of Defenders. If you have a larger amount of cargo space in your escorts, the fleet will consist of Lightnings and Rapiers. In Override, the fleet will consist not of pirates, but of harmless traders.

hey the problem is you just blew too many pirates up and they want blood. i have only confed and rebel escorts and every jump i get pirates or bounty hunters. all you gotta do is blow up the pirates the systems will like you better and your combat rating will rise. if you blow up a few defenders or get a speed enhancement youll see them everywhere.they are of no threat if you are a good pilot with decent speed and firepower.
That, I believe, is a different line of code.
I believe they appear due to a combination of completed mission strings, diplomatic stances, and combat rating.
