Alien Missions

I am on the Rebe side, have a "good egg" status in most of their systems, 2 or 3 I am a "descent individual," and I need to except the Alien Missions. I know it is on Sirgil III in the Sirgil System, but for some reason I can't get it, oh and I also can't find any of the "kill a vip" or "destroy a convoy" missions that are supposed to be done to up the record, and I have an Ultimate combat rating. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO!

'Good Egg' isn't good enough, friend. Your legal status in Rebel systems must be at least 'Pillar of Society.' You don't need specific missions to boost your status. Just kill some pirates or Confeds within two jumps of a given Rebel system. Once your status is high enough, just frequent Rebel hangouts until you get a mission to investigate some disappearances. Then you're on your way.

a good way to get your legal status up in a system is to hire or capture several freighter escourts. they will attract pirates, which will reliably appear as long as you have the freighters. now you just kill the pirates off, and youll quickly get your legal status up even in systems that are far away from any major pirate systems. you should be able to get enough legal status to get the alien missions easily this way.

I beg to differ. It isn't necessary to be a pillar of society, good egg is enough. It's important, though, that you ahev done the other rebel missions first - to begin with it's just a courier mission, then doing some gun running. Get the special ops mission on Satori (though it might start elsewhere, try the bars on Rupert and Alkaidon). After this, you should start getting the Assasinations, destroy convoy and protect stellar missions. Then look for the Astrodyne outpost mission, where you have to rescue a defecting scientist from Ruby and then follow it from there. After that, you should get the alien mission string from Sirgil III.
Oh, and one more thing - you do know that these missions are only available from the bars don't you? But it all starts from the courier mission the rebels give you - if you haven't accepted this, then you can't proceed onto the other missions. You can't rush these things; you won't be offered the alien string right away, it takes patience.

you do not have to do the tractor beam, gun running, stellar protection, or assassination missions to get the alien mission. you only need to do the rebel courier mission and the cloaking device mission set to be able to get the alien mission. also, these missions (at least the three sets you NEED to do to get rebel ships) should be obtainable from ANY rebel planet with a spaceport bar. you just need to have high enough reputation.

also note that in the mission resources, the min rep for mission availability is defined as a reputation value that you have no direct way to determine. that is, 'good egg' is, say, 150 rep, and 'pillar of society is, say, 200 rep (just making these up), but a mission can require 175 rep. this may be the case with the alien missions, i dont know offhand. regardless, it cant hurt to have a higher reputation.

This is true. But it helps to get the astrodyne mission out the way, and it helps in that you have a tractor beam after that string, so killing the cruiser is easier - it won't be able to bring it's weapon to bear on you. But yes, you need only have done the special ops and courier missions. Fair point.
But the alien mission is exclusive to sirgil, believe me. The fed's alien string is exclusive to matar in the same way. Both missions do a sweep through a specific system (nexus for rebels, risa for feds) so they start at a specific system. But the other missions can start from any system though. You're spot on on that account.

i fear you are incorrect. hee hee 😉 😉

i quote from the ev data file:
misn id 184 "investigate disapperances" availstel 10001
misn id 190 "investigate disapperances" availstel 10000

while these missions do require you to RETURN to hodgson's world and sirgil, respectivley, they are available at 'any rebel planet' and 'any confed planet'.

if you think that burch hard-coded some special values so these missions don't behave like every other mission, i offer this: the (rebel) mission breifing instructs you to " ... Go there and find out any information you can, then go to <RST> for further orders." Not "return here" or "return to sirgil", but "go to sirgil".

You're right. As much as I hate to admit it, you're correct. I know now, because yesterday I found it on Satori. I admit defeat, and beg forgiveness from all for my mistakes.... sorry.
