Uh-huh. I've seen that before...It also seems like with the latest version of EV, you can buy "junkboats" and "junkboat bays" once you've completed all the Confederation mission strings. Personally, I perfer the patrol ship over the junkboats in terms of fighter escorts. The patrol ships are faster, carry a decent number of guided weaponary, and have a good number of proton cannons. As for the junkboat, they are about as easy to destroy as a patrol ship, so they aren't much of an improvement, even if they carry greater firepower.

Yes, there are some Confed përs with gunboat bays, as well as a Confed përs with a particle beam. (USS Executioner, I think).
They're pretty nasty, but they make for great battles. Also, quite a few plug-ins (including my own 'Satori Station') make use of the Gunboat bay in new ships.

I must find the latest version if it enables me to get Gunboat bays. Is the Executioner the only confed ship with the particle beam? I fought the Agamemmnon and another one (can't remember its name) and they said "Feel the wrath of our mighty particle cannon" but they never used it. I sat in front of the damn thing firing my particle beam waiting for its shot in responce and never got it. I do want the gunboats though. Heavy rockets are a plus when fighting fighters.
Are you gonna tell him that's a boy cow? Naw, he'll figure it out.

Several cruisers with the particle beam and gunboat bay appear after you complete the particle beam missions. No version of EV allows you to buy the gunboat bay, but there are some plugins that will let you get it on some ships, including the one listed in my signature.

ANY and ALL Confed Cruisers that are named will have a gunboat bay. After your complete the missions which allow you to use the particle beam then those same ships will have both gunboats bays and particle beams.
Just for clarification, not as a subsitution for anybody elses post.

Indeed. Have you played it?
Satori Station... hmmm, I should check out that plug-in whilst I have the time, but I'm stuck on Clavius station at the minute.... I can't kill eleventy-million NPPK ships on my own, dammit! ahem.... anyway, what's the storyline? Is it good? Look, I'm on a 56K connection that isn't much good, and I need to conserve my bandwidth, so I need a reason to download it.
Another thing that was quite in the "age of yore" was that shuttlecraft carried 128,000 credits (EV 1.0.0). I was able to get a new Kestrel REALLY fast. All you needed to do for a while was steal money from shuttles and eject, thus erasing your horrible legal record. I still have that version if you want it
