I don't see why everyone is so upset, I listen to music all the time when I am playing ev. I just put in a cd (in the computer), make a custom play list, push play and then go and play Escape Velocity. MP3's only work if you only want to listen to 1 song. but I can listen to hours of songs with apple audio cd player.

I listen to music, also...Lately, I've been listening to a lot of "The Empire Strikes Back" while playing EV and EVO. ("The Asteroid Field" is the perfect track for playing a space game.)

i usually like playing a long song, plus im too lazy to get out a CD, but thanks for the tip. I just play my mp3's, and when its over, i land, selfdestruct, and another one starts. I have that handy iTunes

LOL! Playing the Empire Strikes Back in Override when you're playing with the Voinians is perfect...Evil, tense music. I really like the Imperial March, though lately I've been listening to the "Battle of Hoth" while fighting for the UE...The music gives a desperate acount of the Rebellion trying to get rid of the Imperial AT-AT walkers, and makes it fitting for elliminating Voinian Cruisers twice the size of your UE destroyer. I haven't listened to Endor that much, since it is so long, but I remember clips of it from Return of the Jedi. The Battle of Endor is the best and exciting part in the Star Wars trilogy, and playing the music while attacking the Dreadnaught is perfect! I also really love "The Flad Parade" and "Sith Infiltrator" from The Phantom Menace. Wow, I had no idea there were so many Williams' fans here at the boards.

Hi there neb. Haven't seen you on the nova board lately. Anyhow.
I once listened to a whole comedy CD while playing EVO. It was kind of funny, it was the twelth man, a send up of the cricket commentators. It was crazy when i killed this frigate and the CD went "Got him! Yes!"

if you are listening to an MP3 stream, the disk does not need to be accessed between songs (because it is a continuous stream hee hee ;)) so you shouldn't have any problems unless the connection drops and the stream needs to be rebuffered. even if this happens, you can just hit escape and switch breifly to your mp3 player to let it rebuffer, then back to EV and continue playing. hee hee

I listen to MP3s with Soundjam Plus. It is a very cool program. But since I have my stereo sytem set up in the same room as my Mac, I can just listen to whatever I want (CDs, tapes, even LPs) while I use the computer. I like to listen to the original Star Wars soundtrack while playing EV or EVO, but sometimes I just listen to folk music or operas (which depending on the opera can give exactly the right feel to the game--lots of sturn und drang!). Last time i played i had the prodigy as a backgroung musik, i've been playing EVGE and it's pretty good as it is intense enough but doesn't disturb your playing. I hadn't listened to the CD for over a year.

Listening to Star Wars while playing EV, eh? Good idea. Never thought of that. May just have to do it in the future. Right now I just listen to the sounds of the game and the music on the radio.
